I thought the ending was just gonna be noah going apeshit and killing the whole family after what they did to him and grace, I hate how forgive and forget the ending was. I swear I could write a whole thesis on how the theme of this movie (intentional or not) can be compared to the general public’s habit of looking at just about any killing or brutalization of a minority as something to “move on” from. Smile and forget! You can’t be so negative all the time! Even the people that claim to be allies like Noah, do not consider how much they benefit from the current way of things. He was angry for a season and then just dropped it. We don’t get to grieve. Someone is always ready to justify, dismiss or blame us for our pain. Just a thought!

I havent watched the movie, but watching this video, I had really hoped that it would of had a giant twist at the end, like the injection only made them look dead and they were taken to a place to continue living. The 20% of people who had to die was actually 80% but only the top people knew the truth, and didn't want a world full of selfish people because that would just prolong the inevitable.
@ABUBBA22
@ABUBBA22 Месяц назад
Interesting twist, but the problem is that the winning 20% in that situation would be either sick, old, crippled, or only took the deal to help their family and wouldn't be too happy to find out that the ones they tried to save are on the losing side.

2:04 to answer your questions regarding the ozone layer. Holes/destruction of the Ozone layer was SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS problem. However, the ozone layer was able to repair itself due to subsequent legislation aimed to reduce Ozone depleting substances; these laws were enacted by all major industrial nations (including China). Ozone layer depletion was a HUGE problem. However, the major ozone depleting nations enacted, as well as enforced, legislation to reduce ozone depleting substances. In turn the ozone layer was able to repair itself. Ozone layer depletion WAS NOT EXAGGERATED HYSTERIA. The world was able to reverse ozone destruction by working together to stop ozone depleting substances.

Yeah, the Montreal Protocol was one of the most effective pieces of international environmental legislation, the irony of which being people will point to the ozone problem "going away" and saying "see it's no big deal" when it took an unprecedented level of international cooperation. Another irony is the refrigerants we replaced the ozone-depleting CFCs don't deplete the ozone but produce disproportionately large amounts of greenhouse gases, thus contributing heavily toclimate change. Also global warming is apparently causing the ozone layer to thin by itself.

@@ka-boom2083 I'm not actually sure about the movie, but the short story is about a family who lives in an exceptionally crowded city (I believe it takes place in Long Island) driving back from a trip to the beach. The short story's namesake is a long tunnel on the way back to the city that will, at random, cut off the entrance and exit and kill everyone inside (the method is not described) as a means to control the population. If I recall, the story states that it does this at random 10 times a week. For example, it could not operate at all on one day of the week, and then it could close, open for two seconds, then close again on the next day.

This movie about “the greater good” is absolutely ridiculous. It’s a plot that has been done to death and yet Hollywood still finds new ways to show what they think of their audiences. One thing I am absolutely tired of is the constant messages about the rich and powerful. How can they miss the golden opportunity to show what would likely happen in the end of the world scenario? If the O-zone layer was completely depleted (which they would have to explain since after the world legislation on chemicals that were destroying it, the O-zone has been able to repair itself), the fact that paper money wouldn’t have any sort of value which means prices would have been heavily inflated, the “sacrifice” would need to be better explained as using a monetary reward system would not work, the “shunning” would only work on those who actually care about people’s opinions on them and at a certain point it would lose all meaning, imprisoning those who “disobey” is a terrible waste of resources which is something that is actually very well known, etc. Hollywood continues to amaze me on how out of touch they show themselves to really be with movies like this. If they were really concerned about the populace, they would have implemented a similar law as China’s infamous “One Child” as well as the very same plot points used in movies like Galactica where only the very “best” children were allowed to be born. Heck, even using the plot point of The Lot would have made more sense than this and that involved a community picking out a sheet of paper with a black spot, and the family that chose it is made to do it again and the person to draw the black spot was then killed. How can they take a basic plot idea and jack it up? Again, a family this dysfunctional would not have a “come together” moment. Especially since one of the many things that people are talking about and taking very seriously is the effect of a toxic family environment and cutting them out of their lives to save their own sanity. Note: I mentioned the Lot a few times and quite honestly, if they wanted to do a story like that they should have just did it.

@@kanyenorth2605 I understand what you mean. Due to many factors honestly, I have very little family. Scenes like the whole family set around a table, eating together to cooperate as a single unit... I never had anything like that. As an only child and a single parent, our family was just as dysfunctional but in a different way. So to me it is less scary and just more sad to see a family that COULD have pulled together instead fractures altogether. It is like seeing your ideal representation of family ruined. That's what I see and feel.

Just finished it and it was alright I guess. Not super flashy but not bad either, that ending definitely was not satisfying though.

This movie is a very accurate representation of siblings fighting. Beat the shit out of each other and then get over it.

Your voice over will pair well with an upbeat comedy movie. Really missing that dark ambience aspect. Embrace the horror

Sorry dude. I tried to make through this but I just couldn't. This movie is f'ing lame. Still gave you a thumbs up for your suffering having to watch it. See you next week.

This entire movie and ending was perfect. Because I'm rich. I can relate to them. We dont care about lesser "people" hell i never comment on anything on RU-vid. But this definitely got my attention. At the end of the day money always wins.

This was such a good idea for a film. It brings up a lot of moral questions and is an interesting concept. I haven’t seen the film but wanted to see it when i heard about it
