Hey, nice to see you back. Its good to play HK now, since with Civ7 taking such obvious inspirations from HK, we should hopefully see a resurgence here if devs play it right. Also, please do upload your turn-1 save so that we can play along.

I was very pleased with the reveal. The inspirations are obvious, but it seems like the mechanics are more refined, particularly around conditions for culture switching (and something I've wanted for the last 10+ years, though still less extensive than what I've dreamed about). You can find the save here: drive.google.com/file/d/1rKsVPlSDYajj324iD0aaHtqcmTFOgDLb/view?usp=drive_link

Hello, to see you playing Humankind is a lesson and a pleasure; recently I bought Millennia also thanks for your video; I think it is a very interesting game; do you think to make a let's play?

@@massimiliano-cl7fs I played Millenia at release but lost interest pretty quickly. The main game just feels like a treadmill of replacing tile improvements to balance production chains.

When you win this game and you want to increase the difficulty download the Community Progressive Difficulty mod and play with VIP to maximize computer difficulty.

Good to see you back, what do you think about Civ 7, being apparently Humankind 2.0?

I'm actually very happy about it. I think there are a lot of good influences to take from HK, particularly with respect to the way cultures and cities evolve over time, and the combat system in HK is much better imo (though tbd how much influence they take here, probably not as much as I would hope). I think my ideal is slightly different in terms of culture "switching." I would probably design a mechanic where you are a single culture the entire game (say, greeks, or whatever), but each era you layer in a new set of bonuses, units, buildings, etc. that you can choose based on how your game has evolved. Say, killing certain numbers or types of units, access to resources, types of terrain in your empire, etc. I think ultimately it would be very similar to the Civ 7 implementation, but more modular and less prone to feeling a disconnect with your game due to randomly changing the name of your civ in the middle.

The bug with the knowledge star happened at approx 5:20. I can guess how it happened - the unit you picked it up with activates the knowledge star choice, but then you joined him into the mammoth hunter group so he no longer remained as the "same" group, hence why the event popup disappeared as you joined the groups.

Good catch. Interesting peak under the hood how events are actually tied to things that exist on the map. Can't say I've ever encountered this issue before.

@@coloneluber6747 This is mt first time seeing it too, in part because normally whenever any of those popups appear, I take them even beforing finishing all my movements etc. If you ever get that bug again, you can just reload that turn, and then take the choice. For this game, it will be interesting to see how it goes without the knowledge star.

Nice seeing more HK games :) A question @58:55 - you had the option to go for a single hun horde unit with 4 of your units, with no visible other huns around (yes, there still may have been close...) Had you taken it prior to forcing the peace, you probably would have chasen them away and getting some more victory points prior to the peace, which is good. Had they engaged solo, you'd destroy it with 4 units prior to him even able to get reinforcements (if they weren't in battlezone already, and by visibility they most likely weren't) and again gotten points but also gotten rid of 1 hun cav (again, peace out after battle)?

They have a lot of movement, so I was considering not only the possibility that they would reinforce that battle, but because I would be pulled even further towards them, that they could catch me with more units the following turn. And I was already pretty confident I didn't need the war support at that point.

I tried playing against experts AI on Metropolis (normal) difficulty and got third place in the end! I delay to pick my culture and ended up with militarits, without an enemy. after i conquered my small continent i couldn't sail past them.
