Vokabre Yes, that’s right! I got some inspiration from that, and specifically from the microphones in the flower arrangement for Erica, but I wanna test if the array could actually sit inside the head... and that it turns the head towards the person speaking. More testing is needed :)

It seems the main challenge also would be checking how all would work under silicone skin. Ishiguro's projects rely heavily on external positioned microphones and cameras, and even Nadine and Toshiba's robots require external cameras, which is rather limiting on the long run. (There's also this difficulty with multiple user enviroments, i recall Ishiguro's team either presented or published on multi-user communication with Sota, and previously NAIST did some research with their Actroid in multiple user enviroments, seems quite challenging). Recently been also thinking on messaging replika.ai and asking if they are planning to have any sdk of sorts in the future, as conversational abilities are really hard to achieve when one is not, well, a huge lab with tons of students. Even Ricky Ma's Mark is limited in this regard.

@@paulaslab Thank you so much for your reply! That helped a lot, do you reckon I buy a bigger sized servo? The ones you used in the base of the neck to tilt the head up and down were definetly bigger than micro servos, Not sure if that makes a difference.

It's currently on pause. Hope to get back to it next year. :)

I'm combining 3d printed parts with metal pieces for the structure, and using servos and stepper motors for the movements. I'm using a Raspberry Pi as the "brain" and an Arduino for motor control and sensing. I am inspired by all the amazing robot builders out there! This project is still work in progress, so I don't have a documented working version yet. Glad you're looking into building your own robot - it's an amazing adventure ;)

@@paulaslab I bought the Meccanoid robot but didn't really like it I used to have a robot arm 6 axis but not nomore. I am think am gonna get a 3d printer but I do wanna learn how to program because am still a beginner. So on my own I don't know how to make a full robot humanoid that can do the things I want it to. In the last month I bought a Intel 2 compute stick that works with a neural network that would work great with a robot though but I do wanna make my own robot. I did go to college when younger for computer programming but I only took two classes and stopped but that was in 2002 when I was 23 which was long ago now. Now I would be more into robotics but don't really wanna go to college for it though again.

@@paulaslab I rather just use a neural network but I am gonna get a 3d printer this year probably so I can print the robot parts but can you help me so I can build the robot right since I am a beginner. I like robotics but have a lot to learn.
