A/N - Oh boy, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? 3 months, I believe. Trust me, I had no intention of letting it go this long between chapters but life has gotten in my way. Work got quite hectic and became a bit of a slog. It actually pushed me to quit and find work I can handle better. I’m just not built for being outside all day in 85-95 degree heat with 50-70% humidity. I thought I would be but nope.
So that’s what has kept me busy for quite a while. Recently though, I found out that two people on Tiktok, without my knowledge, did narrations of my story. One only did 8 minutes of the first chapter but that video got 250k views. The second guy did the entire story so far and while not getting as many views and with the narration and such not being the highest possible quality, tens of thousands were still still watching each video. I am thankful some people saw my story worth narrating.
So it kinda reminded me a lot of people enjoy my story and that it had been a couple months since the last chapter and since I’m not employed at that moment, I had the time to get a new chapter out. Hoping to not have months come between chapters again since I am myself interested in seeing where future me takes the story.
I hope the first look at the war was as interesting as I hoped it would be. A few references (let me know if you get some of them, admittedly some are more direct rips cause I'm unimaginative lol), some foreshadowing, and what is probably an unintended cliffhanger. I hate how cliffhanger-y my endings tend to be but I just struggle with ending chapters in such a way to say there’s more to come from a character without that sense of cliff hanging-ness. So I try but I apologize in advance if it’s gotten old. I also hope some parts aren’t coming off as too cliche but as I’ve always said, things that are cliche are cliche because they’re often effective. Take John Wick for example. A box standard “Badass comes out of retirement due to bad thing happening to them” story and yet people love it because honestly, seeing people being badass is just fun. Still, I try and avoid them (fun fact, I almost included a Freebird fight scene in a bar in an earlier chapter before deciding to take the story more seriously) but sometimes I gotta run with them.
Anyway, this is pretty long since it’s been a while so I think I’ll end it here. Been playing Cities Skylines for a bit and really looking to get back to OilLand and keep that black gold flowing. Till next time.

Damn, didn't know that having women play a part in the story would get everyone's panties in a bunch. Funny though, I've now experienced what companies like Disney have, though the claims are provably true in their case and patently false in mine. I guess everyone bitching about women doing well in combat hate the Adepta Sororitas and Sisters of Silence in 40k whenever they do something badass. I do think it should also be remembered that the 679th did fight alongside the 104th Tank Division, which is all male and suffered a third of the casualties. Finally, I'd like to have all these people bitching about women doing well in combat to meet any female that trains in combat sports and tell them that no woman could possibly ever take any men on in a fight. I guess the fact that I explicitly stated that the 679th is one of only a handful of all female divisions in the multi-billion strong UEE army and that all but the 679th are stained as Garrison units went flying over their heads. Now why, if I ever wanted to push the idea that all women are just as strong as men, would I limit the amount of women in active combat to just 20,000 out of an army of nearly 3 billion? That's literally .00006666666666% of the total force. As I show later in the story, I'm not portraying women as better or completely equal to men in combat. At most, I'm showing that certain women can be as capable as men, which is a proven fact. Maybe if they could control themselves, they'd have seen that before getting their dicks all twisted up.

@@robertwhitehead8671HMCS The biggest, strongest and fastest woman in the world ever would not even be capable of qualifying to compete in high end male competitions. Then add denser bones, superior twitch muscles and higher oxygen capacity and the results are obvious. An all female unit has been, is and always will be among the weakest combat units. Maybe not THE weakest, but definitely among the weakest. The modern feminist drivel that women are, physically, equal to men doesn't change the fact that it's simply not true. Regardless of technological improvements physical capabilities will always be important in war, especially CQB, and that's not even considering the fact they would not have the capacity to carry the gear and supplies a male unit can. An average man will always be stronger and faster than an average woman, an above average man will always be stronger and faster than an above average woman and a higher tier man will always be stronger and faster than ANY woman.

Yeah, I never expected a single instance of women being badass would trigger so many. What's even more funny is how them and I are mostly on the same side. I hate how women are being portrayed as Mary Sues in modern media. Of course, if they'd kept reading, they'd find out that wasn't the case in this instance.

An inspired blend of translucence with the extra subtle glint of flash in the sides most fish will take these, on rivers and lakes. I use these spring into summer after rain and for the next couple of days close to where a feeder stream runs into a river or lake. Grubs inside decaying flesh or vegetable matter can can end up washed into the streams and then into rivers ponds and lakes. Also try under and downstream of trees, shrubs, and bushes disturbed off leaves. Grubs and caterpillars can easily end up in the water with a slight shower with or without a breeze helping things along. Skinny works best for me. With a few tied more like a traditional maggot. If they are in the water and the fish are taking them? Why not?

Good story. I am enjoying it. I’m not certain why one of the commentators is displaying some misogyny. I am a former soldier and feel no embarrassment that a woman was the top graduate in my combat leadership course. After returning from an overseas deployment I met her again while she was training to be an administration clerk at the base I was posted to. It’s a little sad, that political nonsense prevented her from entering an active combat area in a combat arms trade simply because she was a woman. I come from a country with an all volunteer army. The method we employed (considered brutal by some) to weed out weak individuals would work equally well on both men and women. Probably the weak politicians, who only care about getting re-elected didn’t want women in the combat trades as it could potentially reflect badly on them 🥃
