Strange that the quality would go down once they started offering choices because ideally they would see which games are popular and bring players more games like the ones people like, while discarding unpopular games.

so for me in the UK depending on exchange rates im paying 8 to 10 pounds for all games as im on the classic option and even on months when i dont claim them all (which ill be honest is most months, i normally leave 4 ish games as been games i just dont even want on my steam library) ied say its worth it, i dont normally by games outside of Sales as i dont have the cash to throw around but i think its still worth it, so Dec of 2020 was one of the worst months for me as i only claimed 4 games out of 14 and they were all ""well i may play this at some point"" picks, there was nothing great but other months ive ended up getting 3 or 4 AAA games that have been on my list that if ied have got them in the steam sales would have cost me 4 maybe 5 times the price of a single month of Humble monthly. for me even factoring in the chance that there may be a month or two where i dont want any game from them its still a no brainer. i do agree that since Humble was sold the quality of the choice for each month's games has dropped.

I only got it because it was 6 dollars for 6 months and it's worth it if I like any 2 games. But looking at the selection from 2017 makes annoyed I didnt get it soonerm

A few things are different now. Do you have an update after 4 more years?

I've been using Humble for 3 years now and I will admit the quality has gone down. The problem you speak of that most of the games are really small unheard of indie games stands true... HOWEVER... I will admit that I kinda like that. There's been a number of times that one of those tiny unknown games was actually on my radar and I was excited to see it, or I got introduced to a game I liked that I probably never would have heard of otherwise. I've also found that because they do more unknown games I'm less likely to get games I already own. Like the months when they do more well know indie titles are the months I'm most bummed because every game I would be super interested in I already own. Though admittedly this won't be an issue if you aren't like me and own hundreds of games... which at the same time the big reason I HAVE SO MANY GAMES is because of humble lol. Has the quality gone down? Yes (especially the last like year). Do I think it's still worth it? Yes. The discount and the trove alone make it worth it, but if there are one or two games each month that you are even slightly interested in I feel it is worth it. Especially since I always claim every code I can and I save all the codes I don't redeem in a google doc. Store away those codes and any that I think someone I know would be interested in I put in a seperate list for birthdays and christmas. It's a great way to get gifts for people. I was pretty bummed by this month. There were only two games that I was kiiiiiiinda interested in and that was Farming Dynasty and the Henry Stickman Collection. Nothing I was excited about really. Compared to December when I was STOKED about getting Endzone and Man Eater as both were games I really wanted that are decently pricey. I will say that I'm just the last like week or so starting to lean a bit more into Fanatical than I used to because the bundle choices seem a bit better over there, but we'll see. Sorry for the book just wanted to put in my two cents.

While I understand that some see the shift in games from humble choice as a downgrade, I see it as a necessity. I believe that they could not make a profit giving out AAA games, so they rebranded it to humble choice and began focusing more on indie and AA games. I don't think that's a bad thing after all, how many AAA games are worth it or even finished these days? (cyberpunk 2077) Most of the games I've gotten from humble choice have had at the lowest a mixed on steam, but the majority are positive. So, they're not AAA, but what if indies are just fine for a service like this? I think 10 games for $12 is a great deal when most indie games are slept on until they're in the humble choice.

I can agree with your every word. Since november 2020 every month I debate with myself about giving them another chance. Wasn't it cllassic plan for me - 12$ a moth I would resign a long time ago.

I do have a question do you get to keep your games even after the subscription is over, also can all games that you select are they pulled from like the steam service so if I got a steam deck I could play them through steam? Sorry if this seems like a stupid set of questions I'm just considering getting a steam deck. And I'm new to the whole pc side of things. Oh and one more question the 9 or 8 games that you pick out of the 10 do you have to pay for them or are they free? Thank you and you got a new subscriber!

I personally feel theres an intentionally misleading aspect to it: its sold as a cancel anytime service, or even pause a month, and it sounds like there will be no down sides. But when the game selection is bad and you try to pause a month, they threaten that you will lose forever your joining deal, which for the first year at momemt is like 10 games per month for $12. So you lose that and when you resubscribe it would go to 3 games per month for $20. I just think its anti consumer to trick people like that.

since IGN took over it's been a pretty blah deal... I find 2 or 3 games I want to play (if that) so seriously thinking of droping my classic subscription and just going to month to month getting the 3 game plan. IMO this month (May '21) has been the first time in like 6 months I feel it's a hit for me. You can skip as much as you want though, but in no month will I want all 12 it's dumb.

Is the quality of games not also tied to which games you already have? I'd guess that, as time passes, the games offered are going to be more and more obscure, the more 'better' titles you already have, as there are only so much 'better' titles to begin with?
