This video shows you how to add dried mud, dust and rust to your model in several easy steps. Kit used is the new Airfix 1:48 scale Land Rover Snatch. The model was painted using Humbrol Acrylic paint. www.humbrol.com/humbrol-weathe...
I find part of the fun is to create weathering with india inks and hard pastels in earth tones ground up. I'm thinking we need a channel for cheap old buzzards like myself. Five dollars per bottle of paint then the same thing for washes. I'm sure Humbrol and Vallijo put out very nice paint just not for five bucks.
Fantastic video! Using decal fix and water to dilute weathering powders directly over an acrylic finish, wouldn't that wear away the acrylic base coat? Also, I usually use enamel base coats, so how would I go about diluting the weathering powders and sealing them without reactivating the base coat?
I simply use matte hair spray or hair lacquer. Unless you frequently pick the model up or live in a high humidity location, it pretty much lasts forever. And the initial perfume smell is gone after a few weeks. If need be, you can always reapply another layer without having to air the room for days.
