WARNING: IF you have one of these valves you should check with your local plumbing codes as it may be out of code and probably is. There are many inexpensive alternatives that the DIYer can do themselves to replace this valve with a better, in code valve. Please do your research as saddle type fittings are now against the International Plumbing Code and may be out of code in your state.
This video is what I did and is in no way a suggestion or advice on what you should do at your house.

IF you are in a pinch and have another saddle valve laying around, this video will show you how to stop the leak by replacing it temporarily.
How I replaced / install a humidifier saddle valve without having to solder. This video will show you how I changed my own humidifier saddle valve (water shut off valve)
This valve is the little valve clamped onto a water line, usually near your water heater, that supply's water to your whole house humidifier.
If this valve is leaking or stuck open or closed, you will need to replace it. This can be done yourself and save you money. There are better ways to do this, see below.
I do prefer to seal up the old hole in the pipe with solder, but this video will show you how to replace a saddle valve if you do not know how to solder and have one laying around.
This video is a little long but I try to go into great detail so that even the most unsure of their skills, can do this themselves.
As usual, if you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, then get some help or seek a professional and have yours brought up to code by a licensed plumber.
Thanks for watching.
Below are some useful links. I did put the saddle valve on, if you want to go that route. It is not code but is easy to do yourself and will usually get the job done. Check the comments.
I do recommend hiring a pro to take care of your problem, I am not recommending anything just showing you how I did it because I had a saddle valve handy. There is also an easy but better option below, called a SharkBite fitting, you do have to cut the pipe but you do not have to solder. I do not have a video showing this yet but there is a link below from another channel showing how to install one. I have also put a link to soldering a better valve in from another channel.
