Humility: Make Me Like Jesus (2002) - Paul Washer 

More and more, I want to be like Jesus. Wow, I struggle in that, and the Lord knows just how dead and unmotivated and lukewarm my heart is, but more and more, I want to be conformed to His will and be made humble and be stripped of my pride. I know that my place is not on some stage teaching people, for I am so lacking in knowledge regarding the Lord and His ways and His character and plan. If I can serve other people in His name, that’s enough. If they can forget me and remember God, perfect. I am so full of failure though, unless God works in and through me. Please pray for me, for I am struggling. Thank you. May the Lord God be with you all.

A couple weeks ago, I was feeling defeated, like the devil was winning. I thought that because I was suffering I guess. But then it occurred to me that no, the devil wasn't winning. God was answering my prayers to make me grow. And I had been kicking against it, not realizing it. When I realized my prayers were being answered and that God was still winning, I understood - at least a little - of what it means to rejoice in your suffering.

All I want is to have Jesus more and more in my live. Am I worthy 😔 NO I AM NOT. Do I want to go to heaven 🤔? Yes I want to. Do I deserve to go to heaven? NO I DON'T......... With GOD'S grace and mercy 🥺 🙏 ♥️ God use me to be a servant like Jesus 👌 🙏

Being made isn't easy, you fail at being righteous. You hate yourself after every sin, you hate the world even more. You'd rather die in Christ this very day than to continue in this wicked flesh. The only peace you could possibly have, is knowing that one day, there will only be righteousness walking amongst you. Until that day comes, I'm an unworthy sheep trying to love a den of wolves.

I was raised as a child preacher before I got to know Jesus for myself. I was exalted by others very quickly. However, now that I am pursuing Christ genuinely I am ashamed of what I said and did after Sabbath was over. But God is the great Redeemer. He has died on the cross and killed our sins with Him! That doesn't just mean we are forgiven. It means we are changed. When we sin, it is no longer a setback. It is now a testimony! If you are struggling with humility or a certain issue right now, it means that God is using you and me as examples of what His grace can do! One day, you'll be talking to someone and they'll ask about your story or why you're so dedicated to doing whatever little service you're doing and you can tell them, not of how you yourself went and fixed your life, but brag about your failures and God's grace! The only thing we as Christians have to brag about is how much of a failure we are! Because that makes God's grace and forgiveness all the sweeter. Brothers and sisters, don't exalt yourself. God is more than capable of doing it at the right time. Just because you're not some big preacher doesn't mean you're a bad Christian. Are you communicating with God? Do you love and serve Him? Are you willing to wait for His timing even if it'll never come? Are you willing to be like Jesus? If not, pray about it. If so, PRAISE GOD! I strongly encourage all of us to not give up just because we don't see the results the world defines as being a good Christian. Humility makes Christians. Grace makes Christians. Love makes Christians. Nothing else. Live for God. There's this excellent quote that says, "Preach all day, every day without stopping. And if necessary, use words."

I want to be like Jesus Christ my Lord, Father, friend and saviour.

Having a great ministry that helps lots of people is wonderful. Being like Jesus, that is awesome. For me, personally, neither of these are enough. For me, they're not the prize. Jesus Himself is the prize I want. He has saved me, yes, but I want more. I want daily intimacy with Jesus, connection, I want to interchange with who He is. I want to gaze upon His beauty. I want to experience Him. (There are other things I want: I want the salvation of loved ones, I want to walk in a manner worthy of Him, I want to be healthy, but all these are second. Everything else pales in comparison to the surpassing greatness of Jesus Christ Himself. That's just where I am right now.)

For a second I was thinking how bad this message is and how could he be saying to not want to be like Jesus or a preacher even though the bible says to strive to be like our Lord. After a minute I think God impressioned on me to not pray for what you want but for the will of God to be done because his plans are better then ours.

Father GOD put a humble heart in me so that I will be more like JESUS, cover me with your presence.

Moses desired to execute righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. (Psalm 103:6) He had to spend a long time in the land of Midian, in the desert 🏜 likely feeling everyday as though he dropped the ball and failed to live according to his calling. Looking back on that day when he killed the Egyptian oppressor. But God knew His servant Moses. In the desert 🏜 his character was the same. “Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.” -Exodus 2:17 Moses wanted to relieve the oppressed. (Isaiah 1:17) KJV But it took years of Moses being emptied out, in the desert 🏜 of Midian, before God could use Moses. He had the right stuff, all along… But He wasn’t humble enough for the job until much later on. ~ 11¶And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting 🤜🏼 an Hebrew, one of his brethren. 12And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. -Exodus 2:12 Moses couldn’t tolerate injustice. But he wasn’t usable until later on.

Oh my God. I understand every bit of this message.

Pray for me as I go through temptations pray that I rely solely on God and his word. That his kingdom come and will be done in my life. That I change and continue repenting and glorifying God all my days yearning to be more like Christ. Pray that I turn away from my lustful desires and that I step away from a focus on money that instead I seek first the kingdom and rely on our lord god almighty. That I step away from my addictions which is use to cope instead of relying on God. And thank you for any prayers. I too will pray that the Lord our God continues working in all of us that he changes all of our hearts and make us more like. Christ that the focus on the things of this world fade away from us and that instead we thirst and hunger more from his word and his glory.

It's my desire to follow Jesus. I pray God help me to be the like him in his ways I choose. Sometimes becomes more thought for me as a single young man who just a student more especially being alone. I feel more tempted by young girls around but just have to focus and keep my heart on the Lord for strength.🙏

Ok, this guy might be growing on me. I like this style of "preaching" rather than his pulpit demeanor and methodology. He seems to rely too much on histrionics and theatrics in the pulpit or up on the stage, but when he speaks extemporaneously, like he's doing here, he's much more believable. Maybe there's a lesson there for all of us.

Not on the day when the crying woman asked him how to be saved, in that answer he was the meanest man ever...I will never forget that, and God certainly won't either...I hope Paul humbles himself and asks God for forgiveness- that girls soul got saved maybe, we don't know - but if not, it will be Pauls fault

It sound so good, but is so hard. I cant introspect myself and see am i humble or not. People like myself tend to romantize our character and behaviors, but true humility... i dont know, i hope i will get to that point where it will be my constant state of mind. Use me is a wonderful prayer... We're misunderstanding it slightly... Carrying ur friends baggage is good and a privilege but praying God to use u doens't mean preaching... Jesus never said about being a preacher he said be witnesses... U need to be in the field not a spectator... Asking fame and asking to be used for God's kingdom are two different things... Not asking God to use u just because ur afraid that ur asking for something wrong is a huge mistake... All of us have one prayer... Let us be instruments in God's hand... Don't mix both n later loose God's call just out of fear.... Imagine Jesus hiding so not gain much attention... If Jesus just prayed whole night n hid during the day , he wouldn't have accomplished anything... Jesus was a loud... Out spoken... Had anger, an amazing sense of humour... When it was time he just stood up and took the centre stage... Stole the show... ... We want to be like Jesus...yes to not be money squeezing evangelist... But we want to be used .. we don't want to carry the baggage... We want to be in the field with mud on our hands... Ploughing the field... Seeing the harvest...and taking care of the fruit...
