Humminbird Helix units are very popular in today’s world of fishing electronics. When I started my RU-vid channel, Steve Chiasson Fishing, 3 years ago, I wanted to teach anglers the functions of each key/button available to Helix owners. My second video was about using the power key primarily to use the standby feature. The original power button video was not up to the standards of some of my later videos so I wanted to redo it at some point. Well, that time is now and this video is the series finale for Helix key functions videos. The Humminbird Helix Operations Manual actually refers to the key featured in today’s video as the power/light key. The power/light key is not simply used to turn the unit on and off. Learn how this power key can help you conserve battery power, improve lighting for night use, protect your transducer, eliminate unnecessary pinging, and give you access to Minn Kota trolling motor controls for connected IPilot Link trolling motors. This is great information. I’m just starting to learn my Helix unit and when fishing at night my screen was way too bright. Now I know so thanks for sharing.

Hi Steve, I just installed a Mega Live on my Helix 10...now the temperature is no longer displayed on the Helix 10 screens, other than the Mega Live screen... and in the menu , where you see what transducers are being used...Temp 1 only has the Mega Live as an option. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Curt

I am assuming you have changed the active screen from MegaLive to what you are trying to use?

How do you get the info baron the left of the chart like shown in vid.?

Hit menu button twice, go to set up tab, scroll down to digital readouts, scroll to boxes and that will give you the info baron. You can scroll down to edit data boxes to customize.

Hit the power button and you will see it.

Light up when you touch them.

They do not light up when I press power or other buttons, any ideas other than repair needed

Did you put it on night mode when you hit power button?

I have a problem with my helix, "sometimes" when i press the power button the screen will go totally dark, without choosing standby, then i can't see anything. The screen will not come back until i restart the unit. Tech support said if they couldn't replicate the issue wheni send it in for repair, the cost would be $300. Problem is that it happens random. Thoughts?

Random issues are tough ones as we well know with vehicle mechanical problems. I would check your wiring connections and possible corrosion to eliminate that possibility. If all is good, possibly take a video of it and send it in to tech support and see if that helps.
