Ok, Let me say this. This video is possible the best Introduction to FNG'S for the 360 EVER put on U tube. Bloody awesome. I am a fishing guide in Nth Qld Australia. I have just started using 360 and about to move into live. I have watched 20 or so U tube Video's about 360. Every one of them confused me a tad. Your 360 intro was farking amazing. I totally understood everything. You are now on my Xmas list. Thank you soooo much for making it soooo easy. Knighty
Thanks for the great easy to follow explanation. I am getting one on my new boat next spring and been trying to follow videos on how to use the 360 properly. Keep up the great work.
What a fantastic video!! You did an exceptional job explaining the back of the boat compared to seeing structure. It's something I've never taken into consideration when looking @these. Until now, I didn't know how or if they were networkable either... that's super helpful!! Big thumbs up & now subscribed.
This is an awesome video. Im glade you put it together. Having examples and then describing what the 360 is showing was awesome. Im looking forward to putting a 360 on my new boat this year.
I'm about a year out from my first bass boat and you're doing a lot in helping me decide about my choice of electronics. You may have swayed me away from Garmin. Appreciate the knowledge you're passing out.
Chuck, use your chirp sonar in some scenarios and you will have a double hard line on the chirp view. Look for double red, that means super hard bottom and getting a double bounce. Great video!
Chuck, I appreciate this video - I have recently installed a Mega 360 and am getting to know it. Regarding shell beds i generally find them using sonar and looking for a double bottom return.
One of the better Mega360 tutorials for dummies like me. I fished tourn in 80s b4 elec. not even trolling motors. Anchors to set certain area / hot spots. Keep these videos & updates cuz Im hqving to learn 1st grade material cuz I wouldnt know beds from sunken ships. Im still trying to learn best elec. & what or how you know what or where bass are from bait , cats, hybrids, etc. Thanks, please tag me as you do new tutorials for corn fed fat ol guys. Im trying to get a tourn basscat set up for my son that lives & breath bass fishing & tourn.. God Bless
I fish the St. John’s River, and for me personally on my helix 10 I use color palette 4, the greenish brown one, and set my sensitivity to 8-12 and keep my contrast on 16, they’ll look like moon craters! Hope this helps!
Amazing video! I've been going back and forth between 360 and LiveScope. I've been leaning to 360 because I'm a Cannon, Minn Kota and Humminbird guy. This video was all I needed. Thx again!
Thanks Chuck! Had my first real trip with my new Mega 360 last week and I'm still learning how to use it and when. Have you tried using the 360 SI yet? I tried it a couple of times but I don't see much use for it since I have SI on the transom mount. You probably already know this but I just learned this. By holding down the "View" button for a couple of seconds, a menu will pop up with all of your viewing options. I find it easier to do that than click through each view to find the one I am looking for. Also, I have a Gen3 on the bow which allows me to share the 360 image with my Gen2 on the console. Anyway, good job and keep it up!
A hundred times faster. I didn't know you had to be completely stopped or going extremely slow in order for it to work. I thought it would work at 30mph.
Thank you from someone who is 50 so the electronic deals are hard to figure out without help , still learning but I live in Clermont Fla I would love to have that edition added I just do not know who to trust or go to for installation and some help to link together and maybe additional battery? Then lesson for sure , I have one helix unit I can only go out about 1 or 2 days a month and would like to catch more fish !!! Looks like it could take a lot of guess work away thanks again
Killer video man. Here's the main thing I learned from watching...I want one! Lol. I have the Lowrence HDS12 on my bay boat . Bought it from a friend and I really need to find someone who can show me how to maximize it's features and just learn how to use it. Right now it's just a giant GPS...lol. Might have to find me a guide down here and pay him to teach me. Idk...
Hi Chuck, everything you said is the absolute truth! I have both the older version of 360, and now the mega. I was wondering if you have considered the acquisition of HB's version of live view? From all I've seen elsewhere, it doesn't seem to match up to the Garmin in image quality, so I've been holding off for now, hoping that HB will improve theirs soon. I'll keep watching to see if you do, and your usage of it! Thanks for such great videos!!
Chuck, thanks for a great and informative video. A couple of questions, can you use the 360 in 10-20 foot water and how does the unit perform when there is a little wind which would cause the boat to rise and fall? Thanks again.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, you can use the MEGA 360 in even deeper than 20’ of water. If your boat is rocking up and down, however, you will get a disrupted reading. Everything has its limits.
Not sure if I missed it , by It seems your working the Mega 360 in only shallow water, how does it work in water say 20' deep +? Is it still crisp and clear, or? Thanks
Good question. You probably can, but there’s a lot of interference that close to the surface because of the hull of the boat is blocking most of the view. I think the talons are only visible because they go through the entire water column.
Thanks. Liked. How do you follow a school near the surface? It seems that mist of what the 360 is showing is the bottom. My lake is 50 feet deep but the schools are usually about 5 feet below surface. Would this work very well just to tack the surface fish that is swimming actively around a big circle?
Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for. I am buying a new boat in the spring and I want to go with a helix 12 with SI at the console and a helix 12 with mega DI and 360 at the bow. Or do I have to have SI at the bow also?
That is very interesting about being able to see the Talons. Are you anchored when you can see them? Also I have the core unit 360 not the mega...thanks
@@ChuckPippinBassFishing Years ago when taking a ride in a boat and the guy had on birds and just seeing the chain that had anchored the marina docks in place had me hooked. So listening to what you had stated in your video on the length of the boat within your black circle. When I'm on top of some serious fish, the black circle has vanished. My boat is 21 feet in length. So I will test and look for those two hot spots in the back om my boat and slow my speed of the 360 and let you know
Great demonstration! Do you know the total length of the Ultrex 360 unit? I am getting 2 different answers from different sources. Humminbird told me 39" shaft with the total length being 45". I have seen it stated on forums that the total length is 39" with it being 35 1/2" to the wet switch. Pairing it with an Ultrex 60" on a Pro V and need the extra length. May have to get the 50" universal model and wait for the Ultrex Hardware kit, which are on backorder. Thanks!
I’m sure I’ve tried all the palettes. I’ve been able to slightly notice a difference between shell and plain sand bottom when I already know a shell bed is there. However, as far as solely using SI to idle around and find shell, I have not been successful at that.
With the Humminbird live coming out next year would you still get the 360 or just wait till the live comes out? I was gonna buy the 360 till the announcement of live but now I'm not sure.
I have a rear transom mount helix g2n with side images got my helix on dash board, I can put the360 on trolling motor shaft, right and use usp cable , that's all right
Just got mine, finally and really like what I'm seeing so far. Anxious to spend some time with it. Do you need to put a network cable to tie it to console Helix unit?
Great video Chuck. I currently have the MEGA+ side imaging with an eye on getting the MEGA 360 this spring. In the video you commented about the rings on the screen being 13'8" from the transducer. In side imaging you need take into account the depth of the water column when determining distance from the boat. For example, if the water depth is 8', then you have to subtract 8' from the depth marker lines. So if the first depth marker line is 15' then it would actually only be 7' away. If true for the MEGA 360 then in your video, would the first ring be actually 10'3" away if you were in 3' of water? Hope I explained my question clearly but just trying to understand everything before jumping in and buying. Thanks!!
When my Talons are down, they’re about 2/3 of the way between the lines of the 1st & 2nd ring, which would be 21’ - 22’. So, I don’t think the water column is a factor
Has anyone had issues with the 360 not reading correctly? It seems mine is 90-120 degrees off. I have the indicator facing forward but i believe my pod may have skipped a beat and I cant adjust the unit on my graph enough to get the unit lined up correctly
from a software point of view, it would have been a very easy thing for them to have a menu option where you dial in the length of the boat and then, it could draw a more accurate picture of the boat in the center, without you having to figure out from seeing the talons like you did in the beginning....
@@ChuckPippinBassFishing I think the boat is more of just a symbol of heading.. Really they shouldn't put a boat at all just a dot representing the 360 sonar
