this one uses one of the all in one frequency counter chips
prescaler and a very impressive temperature regulated crystal osc.
after the video was made i found a sticker inside the lit
company name who purchased it and 1986, I did not think it could be that old,
wow very modern design for 1986
it handled 110MHz, rated 100MHz so that is 10% margin, nice

I use auto generated subs, i am sorry there are a few spelling errors,
maybe one day they can do it better..

(Thanks to all my Sponsors / Traders / Swappers / Sellers / Buyers, without your support and constant flow of cool items in/out, none of this would be possible)

My second analog multimeter was a Hung Chang HM-102BZ, a really good one that my dad bought for me almost 38 years ago, probably between 1985 and 1986. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember making my first stereo amplifier using the STK439 in 1987, and I had that multimeter in hand. I really loved it, especially the sweet-sounding continuity tester (the BZ is for that). I was just a little kid back then.

Nice, It also does Kelvin Hertz and micro Siemens ;)

Dang didn't know intersil did single ic frequency counters as well, and sadly didn't see any sold locally that were based on it, guess their multimeter ic was way more popular.

If this unit has an event totalizer function, you can also use that to find the trigger. My Tektronix DC504 has such a function, and whenever I get the trigger right, the numbers on the display start going crazy. That's when I know I've triggered properly and can switch to frequency display.

I love the TXO. surprised to see it in a low end counter. I need to look for a schematic of the temp controller. one transistor and a thermal resistor. what's your guess. constant current?

it is constant voltage over the temperature sensor it regulates for, you can make this with two resistors, one fet and one ntc, that is all, if the supply voltage is sable, the crystal temperature will be the same, that means not affected by outside changes.
