In the summer of 2022 we travelled with our motorhome in three different countries and each one of them was beautiful and interesting in its own way.
In Hungary one could still feel the influence of the previous regime which could be noticed in the speed of service as well as the infrastructure, Budapest being an excemption here. Despite this, we were impressed by Hungary and its friendly people, the great atmosphere of the place and the
overall feeling of safety. The town Eger with its many winecellars is something that we will remember forever and most likely visit again sometime.
The Slovak Republic was full of contrasts. The towns and cities in the proximity of the castles were much more developed than the more peripheral situated towns and countryside. We met lots of genuinely nice people and luckily the excessive globalization and Western influence still seems far
away. That's why the High Tatra mountains on the Slovakian side were such a wonderful experience.
In Poland we were quite surprised to see how developed this country has become and simultaneously shocked to see it so commercialized. Massive tourism and Western influences everywhere.
The visit of Auschwitz concentration camp is something that especially the young generations would need to see in order for this worst part of human history to not be forgotten and to forever serve as a reminder and warning that such atrocities never happen again.
We travelled a total of 2.266 km, used up 234 liters of gas and payed for it in 3 different currencies with approximate charges per liter of 1,65 € (SLO), 2,20 € (H), 1,85 € (SK), 1,72 € (PL) and payed in total a little less than 2.000 € for this wonderful 3-week vacation.
