I've been eating them for years. They're instant potatoes. Banquet and Hungry-Man uses them in their dinners. Stouffer's tv dinners uses real potatoes. I'm more partle to real mashed myself.
@@jokermebad31 likewise. I don't mind the potato flake deal but when you do that, freeze and then reheat it I don't think there's much anyone can expect
Oh man you nailed it there. After a 12 pack these things are amazing. And honestly that's mostly what I buy stuff like this for, my drunk food before bed lol
@@patrickholbert780 Male or female, those are some ugly nails. No food should be shown with them. It makes the food look disgusting no matter how great it is.
I love your channel! You're funny and enjoyable to watch. I love your budget meals and what are we eating series! I love your phrase "You The People". We know you care about your viewers! ♥️ From SC!
Bought this for my Mother. She loved it. I wouldn't taste it because it smelled like old beer to me (I love beer) Mother never mentioned beer smell or taste and she didn't drink beer
Dear Mr. Larry Wolfe : I'm 74yrs of age and I absolutely love your videos! Thank you for sharing 😊! --Most informative and enjoyable! Thank you again dear sir (AND your lovely wife! ) PLEASE continue sir--Just terrific! 😊❤
The vegetables being better in the microwave makes a lot of sense, the microwave is pretty much the best way to cook vegetables especially if you care about nutrition.
@ Passion for food, lol, they give you better veggies at school or in jail, lol, i wonder what the veggies are mixed with, lol, can't be flavor. The mashed potatoes look more like grits than taters.
I ate a lot of these back in the days. The beef patties, gravy and mashed potatoes tasted great. The vegetables are not so great. But for that price, how could you beat that. I always eat 2 to satisfy my hunger. One is just not enough.
I read a line then I stop. Then I recorded another line and then I stop, again. I keep doing this. Until I am finished. Then I put the recordings together. This is you how you talk. For you, the people.
IKR? Maybe Salisbury Steak sounds too Posh, too Pretentious for their intended customer market? Call them "Patties" and put some Beer in the Gravy, that'll bring out the Dads faster than "Salisbury Steak". Based and Grillpilled.
I think the reason the things cooked in the oven, with the exception of most veggies, are better is that it is a slower cooking method. It gives time for flavors and juices to mingle over a generous period of time than the rapid cooking in the microwave. That is where things change with the veggies. They like fast cooking like steaming which is something the microwave has over the oven. This is just my thought. I love the simple style of these videos. They are really fun to watch.
I’m sorry, hungry man is basically just 2 banquets....stick with the big 3: Marie Callender, Boston market, Stouffer’s..... One of the three will always be on sale at most groceries
I actually like this one. Add salt and pepper to the whole thing, butter to the potatoes, and whip up some butter bread with it and a big glass of milk. It's no fancy dinner but I'm a single guy so I dont always wanna cook for just myself and it's actually a pretty decent little meal.
Until they get better mashed potatoes, and something other than mixed vegetables, I'll just stick to buying the patties by themselves (yes, you can do that.) Just a note. The patties are salisbury steaks, and are made by either Stouffers or Banquet.
Hungry men was actually my cheat day snack. The beef wasn't bad. The potato was not the best but it was hot. The only compliant I had was the skimpy vegetable serving. Some version with the dessert had less than 2 oz.
It's just a matter of a name change at this point. Back in the day, you could count on a Hungry Man meal hitting like a cinder block. Now, you can barely tell you've eaten anything. Dainty meal indeed!
these videos are the best. Whatever I'm eating, I know its better than this. All jokes aside, the way you give a witty but also knowledgeable and humorous breakdown of these private sector MREs is great.
Larry, i still have never had a good hungry man or swanson's frozen supper. Nobody beats stouffers/( lean cuisine a stouffers product, lo- cal, sodium, etc...) a little more costly , but great taste for the money. Also, if you are on a real tight budget, banquet meals beat hungry man, swanson's, store brands & are less costly. Their salisbury steak & meatloaf meal are much better with banquet's.
One of the great divides in microwave cooking: meat is rarely good because of the lack of maillard reaction but vegetables, frozen or otherwise, are often ok.
Ok, I've eaten many of these meals. I've learned butter and seasoning is always needed for the vegetables and potatoes. I've also found most of these meals with potatoes are still better than KFC mashed potatoes. Thanks for the reviews.
This is my absolute favorite from Hungry-Man!! I always have at least 3 of them in my freezer at all times! Love it. True comfort food. You complainers are spoiled rotten! Seriously. It’s got everything I want: more meat, more veggies and no shitty brownie dessert!!
I’ve never tasted beer in my beer batter , and I make it myself so I know the only liquid added is beer. So not tasting it in the gravy , may not be a bad thing. Just a PSA , do not cook Mac n cheese with beer if you don’t have water. You will taste the beer and unless you are way drunker than I was , you probably won’t eat it.
"Home style" must mean "any ol' instant crap from china" to them, even Tesco's ready meals with mashed potato actually taste pretty real to me, and I'm the type who likes instant mashed potatoes too... :P
You ought to consider nighthawk frozen dinners for a better experience. They taste really good for a frozen dinner. For a poor experience try oncor dinners.
You are right. I dont think it is that much. It is approximately 1/6 of a teaspoon. I have seen you use a lot more salt than that in your own cooking videos.
