Brand: Hunter
Model: Spectrum
This is a 52" Hunter Spectrum ceiling fan in the White/Matte Black finish, shown with the Hi-Gloss Black finish blades and original light kit. The fan features your typical 3-speed motor and reversible blades that offer either a white or black finish. For this video I used a standard 3-speed remote control, however this fan would have originally included a wall control that operated both the fan/light on one switch. The model number is 25476 and this fan was manufactured during the 2nd quarter of 1991.
While the Hunter Sea Air is perhaps one of the brands most recognizable models, the Spectrum actually predates that model by a couple years and was the first incarnation to use that distinct "stepped" housing design. Debuting in 1990, I want to say that this was Hunter's response to the popularity of Casablanca's Saturn model. The fan features contrasting rings around the motor housing and light kit, really giving it a contemporary look for that time. The light kit uses a halogen bulb which Hunter advertised as an innovative feature on several of their fans. Originally this fan would have used a wall control that would have operated both the fan and light. The weirdest part to this fan is the fact that there is still a pull-chain switch that can be used to change the speeds but no pull chain switch is included for the light kit which leaves you needing either a wall or remote control to operate. The black/white finish here is probably the most unique feature. I believe the Spectrum was only available for a few years, 1990 to 1993, and over the course of its production was offered in a variety of finish options. 1990 was the only year where a few unique finish options were offered such as Satin Brass, Bright Brass, Gun Metal/Brass, and the Black/White finish you see here. By 1991 the Spectrum was reduced to the commonly seen White, Gun Metal, and Chrome finishes. With this fan dated 1991 I suspect production for the uncommon finishes ran into the next year before being fully discontinued.
Overall the fan performs about average. It's decently made which was typical for Hunter products at that time with the airflow being decent and the operation near silent despite a slight wobble on this particular fan. Still a cool fan that embodies the surge of contemporary design that the industry saw in the late 80's/early 90's.

A rare time when the black motor can be a part of the overall look. I really like this combo.

Black and white is definitely a peak 90's finish combo.

It looks like a sea air, but remote controlled!

Only a few subtle differences one is the top of the motor housing on this is vented while the sea air isn’t and I believe these use the same 172 the sea air actually does but this fan did come before it which is crazy to think because I believe they both ran together at one point

Edit: This has a pull chain... What kind of remote control are you using?

Just a universal 3-speed remote kit I had on hand, pretty sure it was originally from Home Depot.
