What you are looking at here is probably the most painstaking fan restore project I've taken on to date. This is one of 7 Hunter/R&M 22046s pulled out of the Enchanted Tiki Room in Disney's Polynesian Resort after Hurricane Floyd blew through in 1999. They sat and rusted for nearly 18 years in the garage of Mark Welker's friend's uncle, who was a maintenance Team Member at Disney World in the late 90s. This was arguably the second worst-conditioned of the 7, with the worst being #5, which had clearly been dropped and broken at one point. This fan had to be entirely de-rusted using mostly wire brushes and an electrolyte bath. Blades and brackets are not original to the fan, they were picked up at Construction Junction as the original blades were most likely destroyed in the hurricane. The speed coil was toast, also, so a new speed control had to be rigged up using a series of capacitors. Overall, I would consider this a 'Frankenfan' in that it is largely built up of components from other fans, but it definitely turned out better than expected.
Also, if anyone has a spare Hunter "trumpet" canopy they would be willing to sell/donate in order to make this fan complete, please let me know
