awesome person voice acting was subpar though. Thing I like about the Japanese voiceover is the way it goes from mental breakdown->mental exhaustion->brief unquenchable rage. You can literally hear how tired Gon is of what’s happening.
The naive yet strong willed kid sees the harsh reality of the world and is willing to sacrifices his pureness/friendship to destroy evil. HxH is beautiful...
That was just the byproduct of what was going to happen gon had been transforming in the inside a long time before, like at the very first episode he already started his path here, but togashi wrote it so well that the reader never noticed until gon went dark physically. just wanted to say that because a lot of people think that gon snapped when he didn't is was more like "now is the time to shine" type of a moment with everything hidden beforehand.
I finished it last week and bro, when Gon transformed all i felt were chills and hairs standin! Seriously it has easily pushed it self in my top 5 or 3 even cause damn this anime was glorious, the moment the anime continues i can guarantee it will rival Berserk for being my no 1. All we got to do is to be patient
@@verzide2607 In Hunter x Hunter antagonists died against strong powers in fairy tail you just need power of friendship. Don't criticize hxh ever it's a masterpiece. Just look how Acnologia died.... ridiculous....disrespect for all fans. Fairy Tail became shit while hxh still incredible from the beginning
that look that gon gave to pitou when he dodged her sneak attack was probably the first and best moment when i felt someone is not going to see the sun tomorrow
Gon's transformation was so powerful and terrifying, that it struck fear into Pitou, a monster that her aura alone scared experienced hunters like Palm and even Knov.
But that was Pouf's En though... Remember how the King injured himself and was forced by Komugi to get healed by Neferpitou via Dr. Blythe (which in the Palace Invasion episodes was revealed to necessitate ALL of her focus into healing alone)?
Togashi be like: do you want to know how gon feel at that moment? *Process to hiatus and bring the story along with his death HXH fans: "argh... ARGGHHHHHH!!!" JK. hope that old man can give us more.
6:22 by far the best in my opinion so dark and ominous ... you can feel how pitou felt perfectly you dont know if youll live to see another day standing up to him
I think the theme of kage was the best. Its kinda just absolutely ridiculous, sounded like god himself was coming down to earth to finally punish us after what we’ve done
@@mikeyeyey8678 So my brother used my acc to write this comment for some reason, but you're completely right. All those other protagonists transform into things to protect others, while he transformed only to kill. In a way, he had a kurapika moment
You have no idea how long I've been looking for this EXACT mix of tracks! Ever since watching this episode I've been obsessed with finding the music in the order that it was delivered. Thank you!
Gon was probably at under 5% of his life's Nen potential and he decides to give it all away for an act of revenge. What other show would have their main character do that?
Uhh, Shirou Emiya? There are multiple routes where he dies to accomplish something. He destroys the grail with Excalibur Morgan and dies doing so. If you just want someone getting power in exchange for their life, Might Guy did that, and he 100% would have died had Naruto not saved him. On this topic, Sasuke went to train with oorochimaru to gain power in order to kill itachi, and he a lot of potential after that. Hell even Naruto used the nine tails to get power for revenge against pain because he killed Hinata, and was about to rip off the seal and fully release him (which would have killed him). That is just 2 series and I'm sure I could think of more, but I'm lazy and rambling. Don't thake this as a hate comment, I just wanted to shed some light on this.
7:22 this Image, when amidst a total lack of emotions and blackness , 2 whirlpools of Pure white appears when Gon swear to kill Pitou, its like Starring in the Abyss, and the Abyss is starring back at you, it always makes my spine tingle.
RASETSU (A Man-Eating Demon) A fitting name to describe someone so dead set on killing someone else to the point where they force their body into a state capable of doing just that. Murder. Pure, cold-blooded murder.
i finished HxH roughly a month ago and listening to this sends so many chills down my spine, HxH is an absolute masterpiece alongside Gon and the Chimera Arc.
This arc is arguably the best in the shonen category. The charater development, progression of the story, emotions of each character displayed properly and boy the transformation of gon and meruem. Hats off Togashi!!
Yeah I stopped watching shonen a while ago because it was so formulaic and predictable. But I kept hearing about h x h. At first I wasn't that impressed. It was good but not really game changing. But the end of the chimera ant arc, the end of netero and meruem, the fall of Gon... I was blown away
This transformation is so wild because Gon is such an innocent fun loving kid. Yet he’s completely covered in darkness , he’s giving into the darkness he never wanted to be apart of
it is scary to see a normal human being become darkness and evil it self in a novel i know called "Kanser, the Source of Evil" Kanser was a protagnist living normal life in fantasy world (magic and all that stuff) peacefully with his family (he was from a noble family) but a fight broke our inside the family on who will be the next leader of the family after his father died (his father was abusive so he wasnt so stable) and because of the argument the mansion turned into killing ground, everyone is killing everyone to get the leadership of the family, Kanser was in shock he didnt fight or do anything he just watched his family killing each over, after a while all the family was killed except Kanser who made it out because he didnt fight (his family killed each other) so he took the leadership as the only remaining of the family. at that time he really became unstable, he started seeing another Kanser inside his head (schizophrenia) that guy was pure evil trying to convince Kanser to let him take control, everyday he heard that guy convincing him reminding him of his family and how they killed each other, that humanity dont have hope, they are just assholes only think about themself, but he didnt listen to the sound. after time he got used many times and each time the other guy gets stronger and Kanser gets even more convinced with his idea, the only thing held him back was his GF who he loved very much, for years they dated and planned for marriage, one day he got used and almost all his money were stolen, he went devastated to his GF seeking venting and comfortation, and sure enough she abandoned him saying thing like (i only dated you for money) or (die you loser) and that stuff, devastated he went home, traumatized he sat in sadness, the sound came to him, it started convincing him again, it turned the sadness into anger, the kindness into evil, the innocent into criminal, he was convinced, he said (i understand now, there is.. there was nor is any hope, and there will not be any hope in humanity, is that what you meant all this time? is that what you wanted me to understand?) and after that you can guess it, he had his transformation, Kanser took over that voice and didnt lose control over it, we became complete evil and dark with no light inside, living for many years ahead he didnt change for a single bit, not even a shred of light and hope entered his heart. give a human enough evil and he will the worst nightmare of all humanity. sorry i got excited and wrote very long comment, no one of my friends read novels so i guess i wanted someone to talk with about this.
Felt kind of bad for Pitou when they admitted total surrender to Gon when they were vulnerable and told him honestly, "There's nothing I can do, Kite is dead," when things started to escalate. They slowly at least acted more humane while Gon just became a monster at the revelation
and how arent grief and rage human? why would you expect that a grieving child would rationalize things as an adult? pitou learning better doesn't clear past mistakes, gon making bad decisions doesn't clear his natural empathy.
I loved the twist that the pure-hearted protagonist actually gave in to rage and vengeance, to the point he gave his life in exchange for a power-up, and what made said power-up different from the rest is that it isn't some random transformation or outside power source, but Gon reaching his prime in an instant. He aged himself to a point in his life at which he was the strongest he would ever be, which goes hand in hand with the price he paid. What's even more delightful is that the whole thing wasn't some momentary fit of rage, no... Gon had been simmering in anger, sadness, frustration, hatred and many other negative emotions for quite some time, and the more he went forward, the deeper he sunk into his own darkness until he completely gave in to it. I love it because most shounen stories tend to over-idealise their MCs (think of stuff like Naruto hugging his darkness), but this whole things made Gon really, really relatable. It humanised him, by showing he could fall like any other human would under similar circumstances. What I liked too was that there were consequences. Sure, Killua managed to prevent Gon from dying through a literal plot device (Nanika), but Gon lost his ability to use Nen, and even if he somehow manages to get it back, he'll have to start from zero. All the power he gained throughout the story was lost for good.
@@pedromarques2788 experience it u will understand Those who are experienced it have different values than those who haven't experienced it U are one of those
8:21 I love that brief Dies irae reference. For those who don't know, the Dies irae is an ancient funeral chant. This makes total sense, since Pitou definitely knew death was swiftly approaching
10:19 you realize life is meaningless and everything you do will mean nothing so then you choose the path to loving everyone no matter how they treat you always answer with kindness and love don’t fall into your selfish path treat everyone as if they are you no matter how they look
I sometimes keep forgetting that Hunter x Hunter is a Shonen due to the fact of how dark Yorknew and especially Chimera Ant arc were i mean DBZ can be brutal with its fights and deaths, One piece the characters’ backstory and certain locations background are very depressing, and My hero with Deku going on a downward spiral to protect others and defeat shigaraki and AFO which is similar to Gon but with Gon he used that anger, frustration, and sadness to brutality massacre Kite’s killer who was a beacon of hope for Gon to become a hunter and find his father (which he did by the end of the election arc but Gon’s rage and his murder to pitou has forever impacted not only Shonen but also Anime in general)
@@shoganai2545 I mean I can see that however I think later on in the series you can see a bit of a tonal shift in mha with the series having more stakes and all..although you're right since HxH goes over much heavier subjects and gets down right brutal and makes mha look like Pokemon
Man, listening to this really made me realize how great of a soundtrack Hunter x Hunter really had and how it executes It's sad/emotional type themes very well. They are honestly amazing. One of the best I've heard from
Thank you so much ...god i just finished the episode and the only thing in my minds how many track he used what are they and here is your video you’re life saver
I found it sad, when Pitou's dead body still kept fighting Gon even though it had no chance of winning. I like Pitou's character development like the one of Meruem.
Gons tranformation gave me the chills and once this eerie holy sounding music started playing we already knew what was about to happen to a certain ant. Also i play this soundtrack whenever im going try hard rage mode on something or a game because its the ultimate soundtrack
@@aihara2799 Pitou lied Pitou was a threat to the humans noone could beat it Pitou had gon cornered gons build up to this showed how cruel he could be, it show how selfish he could be and the entire time of watching hunter x hunter we've seen hints at this at gons morally ambiguity
Some parts of this soundtrack really sounds like "Obscure" Progressive Rock from 70's. Something direct from bands like Magma, Island, Aphrodite's Child, Van Der Graaf Generator or King Crimson's (In The Wake of Poseidon).
