Something similar happened to me 7 years back. I found a baby moose caught in the fence, no sign of momma so I worked and got her free. She walked along with me for half a mile. Then 2 years later she came to my place in the spring, had scars on her legs from the fence... in tow was her new baby. She was showing him off. They visit frequently. Animals are far brighter and more grateful than most people.
FACTS!!! Most people are ungrateful unfriendly tools! Definitely have more brain power than a lot of humans!!! That's great she came back with her little one to show her off. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story.
I understand..more than 2 decades of walking with deer has taught, untaught/relearned quite a few things.. our world is a greater blessing than we find commonly accepted..🥰👍
That's so rare for a deer to allow humans to touch one of them like that. I'm sure these guys realized how great the reward was that they were receiving for their act of kindness. They're very lucky in my opinion.
It was their fenced in deer farm! Chootem! Fast food is good 4u! Nock off the gambit movie poor deer crap! The young ones don't taste like a pine tree plus you don't need teeth to eat the roast! Yummy 😋. Grow up city boys! Chootem! 🦌 🦌 🦌 🦌 🦌 🦌 🦌 🦌 🦌
I’ve seen quite a few videos of people saving animals like this but this is the first one where the animal really sticks around to socialize like this.. This was amazing 🤩
So much respect to you two men. Not only did you save that beautiful buck, but to actually see and savor the moment of him letting you touch and scratch his head is just amazing. I'm a retired hunter and this just renewed my faith in true hunters. Thank you 💙
Yes and 4 years later when that little buck has grown into a 175 inch monster buck that same hunter will tickle him again, in his ribs, with a glowing supersonic slug of lead. The end
@@daddylee4216 Hopefully not. Hopefully they learned something but your right, whether it’s one of these guys or some other human trash, that deer will be killed and reduced from a beautiful animal to human trash feces.

@book2316 is it? Except they forget to mention this is a stocked hunting area no different than a stocked pond. Hunters pay big money so they get an easy kill for big deer bc they're fed by the owners to stay big and healthy
@@llamacebu216 Exactly, they paid to "hunt" a deer not to kill a trapped deer. Which is probably why they let it go and people are like "oh the humanity and kindness". 😂😂😂
I guess theres a few commenters that don't realize deer can jump 2 meters high or more, higher than that fence. Those that can't think beyond they're own prejudice shouldn't comment
@Dave_Br Well I’d hope it isn’t. I believe the majority of people are good. I can’t see any signs of this being “staged” lol, so go ahead and show me the signs.
@Dave_BrI'd assume this is real because deer get caught in fences all the time, I'm not even sure how they'd stage something like this with such a large animal. Theyd have to catch it then secure it's leg to the top of the fence without hurting it or getting stomped. Ik what you're talking about though which is why I'm always wary of those online animal 'rescue' videos. Most of the time it is cats and dogs bc they're easy for anyone to access and they can't fight back :( also when they have multiple rescue videos uploaded. No person randomly stumbles across multiple cats and dogs in need of saving. Hunters coming across a deer in the woods is super normal lol.
Thank yall for being good guys. This little guy definitely appreciated yall. I'm a hunter also and I would have saved him too. Animals know that you helped them. My best dogs were saved from the animal shelter. They knew that I saved them and you could tell. I understand the need to hunt but I also understand the importance of preservation.
Jim.Frankovich THEY HAVE ALOT OF STUPID COMMENTS IN HERE BUT YOURS IS THE ONE THAT MAKES THE MOST SENSE OF THEM ALL. VERY WELL SAID. People don't understand that you can be a hunter and an animal lover at the same time! I'm both my damn self
The 'media' probably know that these guys aren't the hunters you think. Bright orange jacket and hat, to go hunting??🤣🤣 They rescued their own reared buck and wore Day-Glo suits to not get shot themselves.
@@tilasole3252 They can get him next time when the buck has a fighting chance. This time is was human and good sportsmen thing to help a distressed animal in need.🦌
Most animals have enough cognitive abilities to distinguish friend from foe. Most of them have the ability to realize you're helping them. And finally most social animals have the ability to show the affection to their saviour (of curse a creature being able to do it doesn't necessarily mean it will)
The deer was shocked and distressed. It was trying its best to protect itself from them. You can see how it puts its ears back and licks its nose while trying as best it can to gore his hand. The animal is weak and shocked and distressed, not loving and appreciative. They are deeply ignorant animals that can't comprehend some of the most basic concepts... Like most of you apparently.
This was pretty much amazing, I'm not a hunter, but if I was, I would never be able to hunt that area again after that. could you imagine coming back yrs later, and not knowing if maybe He was the one you got that day. You guys did good.
Loved this so much. It just makes you cry. Hunters do love animals, too. And have big hearts. My husband, a former hunter, now feeds them instead. Actually he feeds the squirrels, but the deer 🦌 show up, so extra food is put out. Nice to see kindness shown.
Well, I have had a lot of people say animals don’t have feelings and can’t express them like we do. That little buck was just saying thank you for helping me and showing affection and love to those guys. Believe it when I say that they care and love in their own ways and they do feel. 😊
So blow their heart out the other side when they come to your ambush position. Neat. I'm all for hunting (don't do it myself) but how can you be all compassionate and the next day kill the f out of one? Confusing
@@cheesegreezy9860 I use to hunt, but now I’m older. It’s not the same as when I was younger. I never had a lot of money so hunting helped considerably with feeding my family but kids are grown and gone now. Haven’t hunted for over 20 years and don’t miss it. The hunt was always a rush but killing the game from 200 yards away didn’t seem fair to me .
@@cheesegreezy9860 Same why I run my farm. I show compassion and respect for all my animals but also know that they will eventually become food for someone or something.
@@cheesegreezy9860 I was thinking now that the buck trusts humans it won’t run from the next orange vest it sees. He will be dead in the same hunting season or the next. Help them and then either walk away or scare them off.
I'm no hunter myself, but my grandfather (a WW II vet, though he passed away back in 1995 from cancer when I was only about 8 years old, so I sadly don't have very many memories of him), parents, aunt, uncle, & cousins either are or were hunters, and I'm sure that all of them would have helped the deer as well. I would likewise have tried to help the deer. Hunter or not, it would just strike me as being morally "wrong" to just kill the deer when it was trapped and helpless like this.
@@kippertrace5808 some states require a certain number of square inches of "hunter orange"to be worn while hunting. Deer don't see color the same as us. But you did click.
@@kippertrace5808 in my state it's a law you have to wear expect waterfowl season, 1. if one see you're not wearing you're a poachers 2. You can get a fine also worse get shot at by another hunter because they didn't see you at 100 plus yard in dense forest
While I never got into hunting I had many friends and relatives that did and I always respected their choice and right to hunt. It was very heart warming to see these guys help this defenseless animal and see the deers grateful reaction.
Almost all hunters eat the deer. Its not just hunting to kill something. Also hunting stops over population and almost all funding for national parks are paid for by hunting tags and tax on ammo.
@@bradjayson4872 but they're not. That's the equivalent of saying that another dude shooting someone, even if the other dude had a gun, saying he was defenseless because he didn't know he was about to get shot.
@@MD-ex7cg there's no way it could impaled them in that position.. the poor thing was scared and probably facing this situation for the 1st time. And the fact that deer still waited around and showed affection to those men says a lot.
RU-vid is media. And the next day they shot and killed him :) If not the deer misguidedly felt safe around people and was killed by someone else. But hey it is better than being raised on a factory farm where 99% of the meat people eat comes from.
More kind hunters. I smile when I see such kindness shown to the animals around us. Unfortunately some people don't have the morals of these folks. I hope those unsavory sorts are the minority. Increasingly I see hunters helping those around them and supporting nature and I think RU-vid helps with that. Thank you for that, and for enlightening folks like me to what you're really about.
most hunters would do this. Hunting for most is about embracing nature. being in it and apart of it. When hunters do shoot animals they focus on quick kills that minimize suffering. Hunters are conservationists at heart who love nature and have a great appreciation for the animals they hunt.
@@zackeryhardy9504 Yes, I discovered that through videos like this on RU-vid and I was very glad for it. =) As it turns out, my qualms have been with things like trophy hunting (folks who don't even use the animal; very sad), denning, and those unsavory practices like chasing animals from helicopters (though perhaps this was outlawed by now, who knows; I stopped following it. This was a wolf hunting issue in Alaska iirc). Trophy hunting is the most common of those. But real hunters aren't wasteful like that even if they do have something taxidermied. They don't just take a photo and head and go. They use everything they can and that's rad.
Most of my best hunting stories/memories have nothing with actually harvesting an animal. When you can share nature with any wild animal like this, it's something you never forget. Now that I live and hunt in Alaska where most big game can kill you, it makes it even more special.
Beautiful!!! These are true hunters, men who have total respect for the animals they hunt!!! Thank u guys for helping this poor fellow!! He definitely appreciated it!! Great video!!
@@bungeechord1 I thought it was rhetorical and implying more. You should look up what rhetorical means. Something tells me you are not smart enough to know the word. Probably due to your lack of original insults and the fact you need to ask a completely unnecessary and stupid question Also the answer is no. But most people with a brain would realize this. If you have evidence that suggests otherwise speak up otherwise shut your mouth.
@@UpstatenyoutdooradventuresI think if you put a comma or period after the “No”, in your first comment, it’ll clear up any confusion others may have. I agree. Although I’ve never seen something quite like what this deer is doing, Animals do show gratitude. There’s a lovely video of a mother elephant in India raising her trunk to wave at individuals who saved her baby that was caught in a ditch.
@Kippertrace it's the law. If you're on a public lease, you have to wear one. Deer can't see orange. But other hunters can. It's for safety. I've stumbled upon deer in need of help. I get them going again and walk away. You don't want a deer to get used to you. It's doesn't give them a fair chance to survive. I usually carry paint in case I find one like that, so I can tag it so it doesn't get shot. It's unethical to harvest a creature that's not tip-top.
@@dethtour 👍 is that true? It makes sense then. But, I hunt, only on my own land in England, can you explain why we bother to dress in camo gear because deer have far superior sense of hearing, sight and most important...smell. I tend to see and get closest to roe deer mainly, when just rambling about in casual clothes. Dress in my belstaffs...not a bloody thing for days.😁
@Kippertrace it all depends on your local laws. Here in the USA, it differs from state to state. The vest it only for deer hunting, and it's only during season. Like for duck, bear, elk, and other game, you don't wear one. If you rent out your private lease to go hunt, you don't need one either.
This is what hunting and being a sportsman is all about, not exactly sporting if a deer is injured and caught in a fence. Glad you were able to give him some nice head scratches as well, he definitely appreciated the help 🤗
Yep, although that’s one “sport” that should have been outlawed when humans no longer needed to hunt to survive. Now it’s just the pathetic act of human trash.
@@OCRay1 Hunting has it's place still. It is allowed for population control, deer meat is very healthy and very good, it also teaches critical survival skills. It teaches kids to respect wild animals and to not just kill to be killing because there is a limit on how many you can get.
@@OCRay1 as you gobble down chicken nuggies that came from a factory farm. You do realize that hunting is the most humane and ethical way to consume meat. Any life is better than one in a cage, and any natural death is more painful than a well placed gunshot. Not to mention hunters play a vital role in population control.
So awesome look how man can interact with wildlife ! Thank you guys! And you were rewarded for your kindness !! You blessed one of gods creatures and he blessed you
@@Nikwunu Theres no point in indiscriminately killing an animal in need. Sure if you were hungry that would be an easy meal, but its not like this guy is in survival mode. In these cases it’s better to just help them out if possible and let them go breed.
@@hailey9117 you didnt defend your own argument about it being natural. of course every human needs to eat so it might as well be that buck. its practically placed on a golden platter.

@@Nikwunu I’m not arguing. Nor do I need to use something being natural or not as an argument. I’m just saying that this hunter demonstrated a respect for nature by using long-term thinking (letting a stuck animal go, better for the population) rather than short-term (mmm yummy meat now). Since he is hunting for sport and not survival, he is in the position to demonstrate such behavior. And that kind of thing is what separates us from the animals 👍🏻
That deer was definitely someone's pet, or raised by humans. It KNEW what a head scratchy was. Thank you to these gentlemen who helped him! Hopefully he went home and stayed out of trouble.
I was thinking the same thing probably a deer farm or something like what you're saying. The way it wasn't fighting and struggling to get away when they approached kind of gave it away. I once had a little button buck that got tangled up in some wildlife netting in my garden and ended up getting some scrapes and bruises getting that little guy free and he bolted as soon as he was freed lol.
When I was little we had one that came up to us and let us pet it for awhile then it got aggressive and dangerous to show dominance. It was at a state park I guess use to people feeding it?
@E duh Red I was on a Boy Scout trip at Stone Mountain in Northern Georgia and had a doe walk up to me and a couple of other Scouts. She loved all the petting she received from me and the other Scouts. That was a great trip!

Then, as stated below you don't know any true outdoorsman. I suggest you read an article from National Geographic some years back, called "Hunters for the Love of the Land" its a great article about Hunters and all that they do for Conservation of Land and Animals. Hunters have hearts, very big ones in fact. We do what we do out of love and respect for the land and the animals that call it home. Occasionally taking game keeps the cycle of life in the forefront of ones mind and helps one to remember the natural order of this world and our place in it. Taking the life of an animal for its life to provide nourishment for your own life is a huge deal and a very moving experience, no more act gives one the understanding of how important life is and how much it is to be respected.
