Hunting again?? any birds..?????

Like yourself. I agree the countryside is not what it was 30 years ago. Thick blackthorn hedges removed. No or very little potato , turnip or beet growing. Where once I roamed free, there are now clubs everywhere. Lads arguing over a few birds and released birds everywhere . Like shooting hens in a coop. It's had its day for me but I still love to see the springers at work and relive old memories.

Great video and to watch the springers working. Like your self I own a AYA no 3 must nearly 35 years old prior to that a yeoman by AYA. Lost a lot of shooting this last year via new motor way extensions and building new estates on the edge of village. All the best for 2024.

Nail on the head George. Very similar feelings here I wudnt sleep before the 1nov and Ib would spend my week thinking about hunting the following weekend. Havent the same interest anymore. Sad state of affairs.

If its any consolation im currently studying animal science as part of agriculture in ucd and students are being educated on more sustainable farming practices that benefit wildlife including animals like grouse. We learn about creating more varied grasslands and about rewilding projects and their importance hopefully i and others my age will be able to aid in changing this in the future. There is already projects on place for other animals like the corn crake id like to hopefully work on creating the same for grouse and other foul in Ireland. Wishing you all the best with the season.

Great video, I’m in australia and enjoy watching your videos very much. Here in the state of Victoria, we are facing a total ban on bird shooting, an absolutely terrible situation brought about by animal liberation groups.

Try the bogs in tipp George. Woodcock are in early this year. Can be great hunting. A few spotted up my way already. Great so see old shooting mates still goin out on the first. It's a dying tradtion tho sadly
