Great video, first place i ever caught a fish back when i was about 11. Im 25 now and ive had practically no success since on british waters, (a couple small carp on a holiday park pond, and a almost landed pike on loch ness) i never knew anybody who could teach me how to fly fish, i figured out spinning and simple course fishing for myself, but as said my luck has been poor. I live about 10 minutes from this place, ill have to give it a crack sometime.

Thanks very much 👍 Don’t give up on it. Even if you catch nothing to start with you’ll improve every time. And New Mills is a great place, being so close for you. But make sure you buy a pair of polaroid sunglasses. You can get them for a few quid and you’ll see the fish and how they react to your flies much easier. The glasses take the glare off the surface basically. Don’t be shy of asking the people on the bank and also watch what they are doing if they are catching. Most fishers are really helpful. Cheers Stu

Great watch Stu, looks like a superb fishery. Keeping low and out of sight makes a huge difference to catching as you proved today.

Thanks very much Stephen. Try to kneel as much as possible but am in danger of not being able to get up cos the knees are that knackered now 🙂 Worth giving New Mills a go if you are up this way, for sure. Stu.

@trevorluft1763 In answer to your question about whether the bag could take food for a long day (which I’ve accidentally deleted while replying)… Only if you’re a sparrow. Its a good enough size for most of the fishing stuff you’d need and a few cereal/chocolate bars on top, but not a three course meal. At a push you could get a supermarket sarnie in there by sacrificing some tackle I suppose. Its certainly not a tiny space. But not like one of the old style shoulder bags you could park a car in. I do clip a water bottle to one of the outside rings though. And it doesn’t really get in the way or pull down on the straps too much. If we meet on the bank you’re welcome to a look 👍 Cheers,

Excellent well made video Stuart, great camera work. Good fishing as well, I will have to try the hiding behind a tree technique! The rod holder looks really useful.

Thats good of you to say George. Thanks very much. Theres not many things I can hide behind, so that tree is handy 🙂 The rod holders are brilliant aren’t they? Stop plenty of tangles and keep the rods up off the ground 👌 Wouldn’t be without one now. Thanks again for your comment 👍 Stu

Worth the trip if you can get one of those big browns out eh? Thanks again for commenting and subscribing. Stu

@CadenceFlyFishing Месяц назад
@nicothiry4667 Many thanks 👍 Its just a fly rod holder - not sure theres an actual name for it now you mention it 🤔 If you send us a message via my facebook page (Stuart Ingledew Fly Fishing) I’ll send you the contact details of the lad who makes them. Don’t want to put his details on a public forum is all. He can post overseas if you are not UK based I believe. They are really handy things and stop tangles and also help stop people standing on rods normally laid flat on the ground. As well as the obvious positive of making multiple rods much easy to carry with one hand. If you look at the Chatton video theres a more detailed review of it in the first half. Cheers Stu

I've noticed on quite a few vids that the cameraman never pans to where you are indicating while you are talking about features of the fisheries. You need to kick him up the jacksie. Good info though.

@StuI-kl5xt
@StuI-kl5xt 11 месяцев назад
Hi Mike. Thats good of you to say. Many thanks. The bag is a Fishpond Switchback Pro Wading System and I’ve never regretted buying it. Its worth having a look on youtube at the reviews as theres a few features that are worthwhile. The main one that won’t be covered is there is no downward force that makes the straps dig in. Like you can get if you overload a waistcoat. Its really comfortable and the unique slide rail makes everything easily accessible. The tool belt on the front can be slid up to the shoulder to keep everything out the way as well. There is also one with a smaller bag available. Highly recommended in summary - but you might get one or two strange looks 🙂 Best regards Stu

Really enjoyable video, thanks. What type of indicator do you use?
@CadenceFlyFishing
@CadenceFlyFishing Год назад
Glad you enjoyed it Stef G 👍 The indicators are just something I make myself. They’ve been successful for years now. Much more sensitive than whats available in the shops and less resistance to the fish. You still need the right flies on the end though 🙂Easier said than done. Stu.

Shame on you using barbed hooks for catch and release!
@StuI-kl5xt
@StuI-kl5xt Год назад
They’re all barbless hooks used in this video Mo. I never use barbed on these lakes. Hooks like the Drennan Nymph that were originally barbed have been properly debarbed with pliers. The metal on the old Drennan hooks is very soft and presses down perfectly. No shame here.
