Man this 30 day challenge is full of so much information and fun. I've managed to find about half of the fruits/edible plants seeds available online. Things I never considered. That ninja throw on the breadfruit was epic! Almost better that getting it down in one throw. lol

Best thing since sliced breadfruit. I love watching you tropical guys pull off all these weird fruits. I watch quite a few. It's fascinating to me. It encouraged me to try different things at some of the middle eastern markets here.

Hi. I was watching you looking sour sop,my favorite, throughyour banana plants. Those banana hearts are edible. You can cook them after you take out the outer skin,the hard part until only the softer skin is left. Chop it in quarters and take out the core. And chop it again in bite size pieces, you have to do this just before you put it in the pot because it will change color quickly into darker color. I think it the juice of the heart that make it to change color. The juice will also stick on your hands and makes everything messy if you are quick. Use oil to take the stuff from your hands, then use soap and water,of course, to get rid of it. Other ingredients: two or three cloves of garlic, smashed Onions, chopped Vinegar, salt and pepper to taste When the onions are clear already, you can put the chopped banana heart and mix it, that is after you sauted the garlic and onions. Cover it for about two minutes, mix it again,then put in the vinegar, about a quarter cup, put the cover on and wait until it is boiling before you mix it again, otherwise the vinegar will tastes uncooked. Salt and pepper to taste.
@diviniavergara8405
@diviniavergara8405 6 лет назад
You can mix it with pork or beef or fish, as you like, chop them in one inch square or just chop them bite size for pork and\ or beef. Cook the meat first in four or five tbsp. of veg. oil, for fish, put it in just before you serve it. Just make sure it cooked. When the meat is a little brown, you can saute the garlic and onions in the same oil.

I have a suggestion you should only collect soursop when on the tree because it ripens super fast that if it's on the ground it's probably already rotting a bit so the best time to harvest is when they are on the tree then just wait a bit for them to ripen
@davidthegood
@davidthegood 7 лет назад
You are right. They are better picked off the tree, though they often hide up there.

Cutlass are really dangerous and not a throwing weapon. That is not a good practice and will kick right back at you one day, or you lose it or break it. Complacency is your enemy here. Be careful brother

Be sure to look at the ground for the tracks of the prey your hunting. They like to hide in trees and bushes so watch out. They also like to play dead and attack at the very last second. At night you can see the breadfruit walking around, it is best to equip a shotgun with birdshot

let me share u the asian technique f u would not mind.those banana trees,u have to clean the tree sorroundings from grass.cut off the dried leaves.whenever the tree barefruits & all the banana fruits comes out,u have to cut the heart that was hanging.the reason why u have to take it out is to grow more bigger the size of the banana fruits.

Hey, just stumbled upon your video, I'm in Trinidad and Tobago somewhat of a similar type of climate as to where you are. Just wanted to point out something, what you said was "Malanga" actually look more like Dasheen (Caribbean Tarro) Malanga roots are used for feeding animals (like pigs) here. We don't consume it, however the Dasheen is well enjoyed here. Both the leaves and the root, just Google Dasheen Bush, Dasheen. Keep good man.
@davidthegood
@davidthegood 6 лет назад
Yeah, the problem with malanga/dasheen is it seems to be different names for cultivars of the same species. I still get them mixed up. Taro as well.

David The Good Malanga have a deep purple/mauve skin on the stem while the Dasheen has a green skin. I actually made some yesterday 😉

Sort of. It's the inflorescence from which the blooms emerge. First, the female blooms, which turn into bananas, then the male blooms which only produce pollen.

the seeds grow pretty easy if you can get them. had 2 lovely plants growing in brooklyn NY between 2014 to 2016 but sadly lost them last winter because i could not bring them indoors because i had room mates at the time. i was even seeking people online to adopt them, pity i didn't met you then.

Charles, I have a lovely soursop here in Miami. I have given away dozens of plants I have grown from seed in the past. My big tree is in full blooms right now so I am looking forward to a nice season. I have seeds if you would like to have them. The seeds are from the first harvest this year so they are fairly fresh. I usually plant them as soon as I eat the fruit so I am not sure the success rate for not so fresh seeds. I planted two of the seedlings I grew from one of the fruits and both are doing awesome.... In fact I grafted onto one yesterday from the mother plant hoping it bears fruit sooner than the ten or so years of the original plant. I followed David the Good instruction on grafting and the process went well. Now I wait for the graft to take.

Lina, ever try an Air layer ? Find a limb that you are going to clip and instead, use it as an air layer. I have done this successfully with other fruit trees. In fact, I cut the air layered limb off after 3 months, and 1 month later harvested the fruit from it. All the time it was planted in my yard . That would give you an exact replica of the tree you have now,and you would get fruit the following season.

Then are you sure you know how to grow bananas..? It stops the plant from keeping the flower alive and the energy that would've been used for that can now be used to grow bigger fruit. Also, you could've cut the banana plant just below the break, that would've given the tree a growth head start.
