Btw I took so many calls on the Le’s Paul Deluxe with the stolen serial number. That’s at our store…hit me up for more fun details haha I have a whole story on that one!
Am I the only person here who has a problem with people like this guy? The dude can barely play guitar, stockpiles them for his “collection”, and contributes to the outrageous prices that he, himself complains about on a regular basis. If there weren’t nerds in the midwest hoarding great guitars, maybe working musicians could afford the best tools for the job. I just feel sorry for the people paying these prices right now, because when the boomers are gone, the value of these will be too. Guitars deserve to be played, not hoarded.
Selling is huge right now because everyone is broke…so many used guitars sitting now because nobody has any money besides ridiculous collectors. Our shop has sooooo many overstock used guitars.
I went into GC just to see what deals they had on new not expecting to be interested in anything as usual. Then I saw the exact same Jaguar in the exact same color that I’ve wanted for so long but was very bummed to see it was used. I asked a store employee to get it down just see how it feels when he informed me of the deal! I snatched her by the neck and ran to the register and haven’t put it down since
$10, or 15,000 ? We use to pick those up in a pawn shop in Atlanta for a few hundred bucks back in the 70s. Wish id'a known. A buddy, dead now, had several Les Pauls hanging on the walls. Big smoker. Nice guitars.
Hah, on this sale I picked up two 1965 Gibson Melody Makers! The one that's already arrived looks to be all original except for the truss cover screws. I picked these up largely on Trogly's raves!
@@somethingblfor used gear you can generally only haggle if the gear has been in inventory for more than 3 months. By that point they usually discount it enough to move anyways
@@kentfranklin736 Maybe in the middle of Covid when demand was out of control. They always sit on gear because they overprice, hence this deal they're running. They'll make more putting everything overpriced 10% off giving the impression of a deal than they would selling outright to low ballers.
In case anyone is interested, the '81 Custom IS a factory 3 pickup. I have three others with the same date code in my records, one is three numbers before this one and the other two are just after it. No need to call the store, haha. RFL
I agree... especially the larger stores in major cities. I buy a lot from them because of their return policy but never anything that isn't "Excellent" or "Great". I've received "Great" guitars with chunks out of the fretboard, dented frets, replaced parts, missing trem arms, changed speakers, etc.. The truth is a lot of the time they just don't know what to look for while other times they'll take pictures that hide stuff.
I have bought and sold to GC used to sell them gear I would get 70% of what they would sell for. Then %60 and then %40 .Im no longer gonna play the game.Took a Matchless 30/15 in the offered me $1300 which was %40 I walked out.....
A very nice and timely review, Trogly! I picked up the used Lambert “Bluebird” acoustic. It will be delivered here in a few days. Looking forward to playing it 😎🎸🖖🏻
1987 Calgary Alberta: On 17th Avenue SW, Calgary had a row of guitar shops that catered primarily to long-haired heavy metal guys like me. It was great - Hamers, Jacksons and Kramers galore. Across the street was a tiny second floor vintage guitar shop. At that time, you could have your choice of a dozen 1950's Les Paul gold-tops or a row of SG's from 1961 to the early 70's. Fenders galore. I remember playing a 1955 gold-top that was on sale for $1750...Canadian. I had $300 to my name, so I passed.
I saw that zuit on monday. That guitar center is solid. I was thinking about getting the less paul deluxe bc Im looking for one but that serial number thing is really sketchy
Funny, back in the day I bought a Chris Cornell 335 just like the one you show for $500 from GC. It came from Gibson with a broken headstock and they wanted $1200 for it. They fixed it (decent) and I offered $500 and they took it! Didn't love it and I sold it a year later for $1500!!! 3x baby! Now I see this, lol. It was a first edition too. Oh well...
I went on a lot of guitar shopping excursions from the mid 1970s on out. In my area of New York and hardly anyone carried Explorers. I've maybe only seen three in 50 years. I guess they all ended up with Guitar Center eh?
Well, I'll be damned. It appears that Guitar Center, of all places, is reflecting the market coming down. A LOT of those were, what I would say is, fairly priced.
You interested in a 69 les paul custom "fretless wonder"? Ive got one currently for sale on reverb, its in michigan. If either you, or someone you know, wants it, we can message.
You need to get a Martin backpacker to review just for fun. Or get one the next time you go after a Gibson Custom guitar. You could start with a Martin Backpacker.
