Dad had a 1963 chp bike he picked up in early 80's did not have more than a year or so. Later on life he got another 63 and kept it till the end of life. Bike has been completely freshened up and now just sits.
It looks like the tool boxes today are exactly like they were then except for the lock mechanism. Thanks for the history lessons Todd. You're providing a great service to us.

John, lot of people chromed them, including dealers. I'd have to check my parts book to see if the factory offered a chrome tank by 57. However, 1954 the factory made a special order machine called a spring special color. This bike was offered via a special order form in February 1954 and came with a lot of factory chrome, including a chrome oil tank, kicker arm, and much of the brake items came chrome, from the factory. I have an original paint 56 FLH with a lot of accessory chrome on it.
Old quiet special ex black and white Po po stealth bike fitted with a matching old mumbler in black and white. Easy maintenance just by regularly bunging a burger and a beer into the garage keeps him mumbling along and stops the old bike getting lonely.
