My best friend’s brother was president of the Grim Reapers. This could be his bike, it’s that similar. When i was 17, still in high school, i ask him if i could ride it around the neighborhood. He said i could, IF i could get it started. He told me how. What to do and what not to do. The first Harley i ever rode. Been in love ever since. I have a 16’ Road King, love it just as much. Except, IT IS MINE. Thanks for the vid. Good times. Then & now.
I'm surprised that Hollywood has not made another blockbuster movie involving classic Harleys. Thanks for posting this video and sticking with it until it started. It sounds really awesome.
Best YT random recommendation ever. I love the vids and I love the bikes. I had a neighbor growing up who would build knuckleheads in the old wishbones and pan heads, etc. I learned a lot and gained a great appreciation of those old bikes. Thanks for doing what you do. I also enjoyed the old bobber video.
Check out wheels through time on RU-vid . Dude has a museum in NC has over 350 old motorcycles. You name it he has the old stuff, and they all run. Even the oldest 19teens year.
Excellent , you just made my night ! ( I’m old, it doesn’t take much these days !) I need another antique Harley before summer it won’t be a Knuck. , I will have to settle for a Flathd this time if I can find an affordable one , Damn I miss my Pan. Thanks for sharing !
I dig the big beefy tires on that thing. Seems like the newer Soft Tail Slims are going for a similar vibe. Your neighbors must love you. Loud motorcycles and pitbulls running around the street unleashed. : )
I love this one just the way it is. If I found one like it, I would dust it off and make it safe and ride it without any modification. I’m pretty old so loud and obnoxious has lost its appeal. You’re a lucky man. 😎👍
Damn good lookin bike. Been collecting parts for my 47 ever since my buddy sold me a set of large port heads in 2006. I’m getting close to having it done, just gotta get off my ass and finish welding my replacement sidecar loops then paint. Got a 3 speed and reverse gear set and drum and a 4 speed gear set with the shift drum and still not sure which way I wanna go. Have to hop on this channel every once in a while for my knucklehead fix to get me by,lol. Awesome job with the channel btw and I hope that you’re able to get your garage and inventory situation hemmed up soon. Keep up the great work. 👍
@Shane J they sure are fun bikes to ride an very reliable. Can't wait to get my 68' Commando back together they are such a smooth bike to ride. The 650ss I use as a daily is alot more raw in a fun way but the chassis being a slimline Featherbed is sublime even compared to modern stuff I've had. Restoring a ww2 Norton at the mo. Keep looking at Harley J's at the moment :)
HA ! I had a 150 dollor piece of shit escort that I had a cut side antifreeze container with a rock in it that I would leave under the engine cuz leaked oil so damn bad...I'd just pour it right back in that bitch !!
He's prolly the only person on the planet that has the encyclopedias of Harley's stored in his mind. I never heard any other bike person that knows anywhere close to what this guy knows about Harley's.and if anybody knows of anyone I'd like to see their bio.
Hey Todd love that knuckle man!getting real hard to source down under that knuckle down under you would be looking at $75000 +anyway bro all the best with her hopefully see ya on the highway one day 🤛baz.
Theres a 1940 something harley in my neighborhood that was parked between two small trees at the beginning of ww2. Those trees grew into much larger trees and have nearly swallowed the bike whole. Love to have the time lapse. Wouldnt THAT be the ultimate restoration!
@Shane J I wonder if the skill exists to free that bike and breath new life into it. Probably too far gone. crazy how the tree has swallowed it, as if it was poured over the bike
@Shane J Definitly tree must go. But i think what the tree has swallowed would be pristine being shielded from the elements for so long. Anybody with deep pockets up for a challenge out there? The 90 year old vet would be tickled pink.
I always liked seeing the old late 1940's crime movies with the police Harley motorcycles and officers in their uniforms, gloves and caps either kick starting or riding them in hot pursuit of the crooks. I had toy motorcycles in the mid 1950's that look just like Todd's
Out of all the Harley designs, I think the Knuckle is the most aesthetically pleasing... It's a rolling work of mechanical art! And all the scratches, dust and wear on that old Knuckle, just adds to its character!. I see you have 2 Knuckles there... Feel like you want to give one away? LOL The only real problem you'll have with an old machine like that... HD doesn't want to support them any more... The old bikes and old bikers, are being systematically weeded out of the HD line up. Catering to Millennials is they way the corporate HD is moving...
To start these old bike turn on the fuel and with the ignition off kick it through two full kicks be sure you spark advance is right then turn on the inanition and it most likely will start first kick.
@@dawidos117 Yes actually I am I been rebuilding these old bikes for over 50 years. I owned a 1941 45ci sports solo at 1946 Indian chief a 1933 HD a 1947 Indian chief a 1951 HD and a 1955 HD. All basket cases.
