Yes I think all lizards can pop their tails off in case its caught by it. I also hear some lizards will eat their tail if they are lacking in food.

The little lizard you guys lured out of the burrow is called a paleosaniwa :) They were pretty closely related to monitor lizards so they look very similar

I have a pet gecko, and some species of lizards and geckos can drop their tails.

Geckos and a few other lizards can drop their tails. Monitor lizards cannot. Meg is a type of monitor lizard. Also I don't think worms have tails, they just have a butthole at the end of their body not a tail
