That guy was likely using a mk2 heavy sniper with a muzzle. They are usually (but not always) a one shot kill unless wearing armor. And probably had the thermal scope on it as well, making it easy to see you.

Hey Kevin, Here's a new twist on an old gag I did on accident with hilarious results. I threw 5 sticky bombs on a dude that was AFK. Hid and waited for someone to try hitting them with their car. Just before impact I hit the AFK with the ray gun. Car launched over a 2 story building, everyone dead. You'll probably need a partner in crime if you try to pull this one off. lol
