Hunting with Harris' Hawks - In the field with Nigel Hawkins.
My aim is to allow people a preview into the raptors world by flying the birds as close to their natural wild state as possible. Everything caught is dispatched humanely, shown the upmost respect and eaten by the hawks, dogs, ferrets and myself. Nothing is wasted.

Info Kevin Thankyou... The male is in his 16th year, he was rescued from a pet keeper. He was shut away in an aviary for years and wasn’t being flown. The female was rescued from a breeding facility where she had been shut away for 6 years. Unbelievable satisfaction watching them enjoy their freedom...!

Yes, Falcons, Hawks and Harris fly well. In Switzerland hunting is only allowed on feathered game, mainly on raven crowds. Without a car it is not possible. Excellent video! It's nice to look at the harmony between nature and man. I like Harris' Hawks, but they are quite thermophilic. Unfortunately, most of our local common buzzards look greasy in comparison with Harris' Hawks.

John Abbott Thanks John. Far too many write them off as beginners birds. When you’ve got experience of other raptors, falcons, Hawks , eagles etc. It’s only then you realise they are absolutely unbelievable birds. Unbelievable!

Thank you for making such a great video ! The Harris is an amazing bird. They're like having a bloodthirsty buddy. I live too far north to really get to enjoy my bird. May I ask where this video was shot ? Beautiful country !

Yes it’s just a play on words. I think my opinion of the Harris’ is shown by how much time and effort that’s gone into hunting them most days for 20 years. Absolutely awesome birds thanks…!

Thanks John. Falconry was filmed on a Panasonic HDC SD900. The aerial shots were filmed on a GoPro 3+ whilst paragliding :-)
