The first fishing session for 2020 started off right with some fun spotted bay bass action out at Anaheim Bay/Huntington Harbour! The day got even better when I stopped at the "secret spot" and nailed four more spotties before finishing the session!

Thanks for the videos! What gloves are you using? And do you use different retrieve with the hookup bait when in the eelgrass? Thanks!

Capt Adobo I always have a problem keeping my hands warm during the winter months. The gloves are 2mm neoprene, basically a very thin diving glove. Hookup Baits are terrible in the eelgrass. The pop and drop presentation that I use will definitely leave me hung up in the eelgrass, so I will cast close to, but not directly into the eelgrass. For heavy eelgrass, I definitely prefer a Warbaits Underspin jig head with a weed guard.🎣😃

@@losthorizonfishing107 Whew, I thought it was just me that had trouble with that bait in the grass! Thanks for the reply and keep up the great work. Really like your intro!

What spinning real set up do you use????

It’s a Penn Spinfisher VI 2500. It’s an excellent kayak fishing reel. It’s IPX5 rated, so if you accidentally dunk it in the saltwater it’s not a problem. I have it matched up with a Phenix Feather Series Freshwater Rod 7’1” Medium/Heavy with a fast action tip. 🎣😃

New subscriber! Just got my kayak and went out to HH a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Caught one nice spottie trolling a crankbait. Do you find HH fishes better on the out going or incoming tide?

Both incoming and outgoing tides are great for spotty fishing. The more water movement the better. I think I actually prefer a really fast draining outgoing tide, but I’ve caught plenty of good sized spotties on the incoming tide also! Hookup Baits (1/4oz) Red Crab work awesome for spotty fishing and a Warbaits 1/4oz Underspin with a Keitech Swimbait is also a great combination. I also recommend 20 pound braid with a 15 pound fluorocarbon leader. Congratulations on your new kayak purchase!🎣😃

@@losthorizonfishing107 Thank you for those helpful tips. Is there a "season" for spotties? For example, summer time, or fall? Or does water temps play a bigger role (in addition to water movement)? Thks again. I've rented kayaks from those rental shops on PCH for years but never fished HH.

Dan your videos look so amazingly clear. What uploaded settings are you making on your video editing program when uploading to RU-vid?

Southwest Kayak Fishing I just upload in the highest available quality at 1080P 60fps. I actually do all of my editing on my iPhone XR using an app called LumaFusion 2.0. It’s really easy to use!

Awesome video Dan! You should invest into a GoPro that can go underwater for the safe release footage! Also have you ever used Alabama rigs out on the yak?
