It sucks that most of the old ones are having troubles with agencies or scheduling but at least the new ones are trying their best to replicate the voice. Ik some ppl say it's on Hoyoverse's end but I still find it weird how it's only star rail and not all of Hoyoverse
Hoyoverse has next to nothing to do with the voice actors that is all done through a hired agency. Every hoyoverse game uses a different va agency. This issue is either on the side of the va agency or the va's themselves, but it's almost impossible for it to be anything to do with hoyoverse.
Aside from tail's Ult line, they both sound really good for having to replicate the originals as much as possible. And huo huos new VA sounds good, but that cute dorkiness that makes you eant to cheer her on (from the originak va) seems like its going to be very difficukt to replicate.
@@mrmechpunch4653 For me, Huohuo lost her unique afraid but still somewhat courageous personality which the old VA amazingly conveys, the new one just sounds like a generic crybaby character now 😢
I played Star Rail because of Huohuo and Tail, and despite that the new VAs may sound close to the old VAs in cutscenes, the new ones are bad in battles because how sharp they sounded and the tone is different.
Mr.Tail had a very raspy voice and in my opinion that's what made it sound so good. now the voice sounds way too smooth and sounds terrible in general... then again maybe we are whining because we were used to the old voice for a decent amount of time. (the battle voicelines are indefensible tho no matter how you look at it. it sounds like they made 1 quick take and decided to go with it...)
Fr, I just got Huohuo and I really liked the old ones, but now they changed the VAs 😭 And worse than this, I play with Argenti on my team, and the new VA didn't even try to replicate the old voice (wich was so much better)...

New Va did an amazing job on re dub the quest Which make me wonder, why they fucked up the battle voiceline so bad? Huohuo x2 voiceline when using skill is so painful to hear now
Yeah, they're doing a good job at trying to replicate the OG voices, but that's the problem... they're trying to replicate the voices, not the sentiment or anything. There's a clear disconnect between the new VAs and the characters. The old ones understood the assignment, the new ones are just trying to emulate it. No disrespect to them, obviously. It's the agencies and directors being lousy at directing who are at fault here.
to be fair, in the case of redoing old cutscenes I'd argue that it was dumb to even replace the voice lines if they'd just been given the proper assignment and recorded any new lines from now on that'd probably be the better way of doing things.
@@typh2630 it's how they replaced the Korean version of Cyno (I know that only happened because the old VA died but it sounded like it made a ton more sense than redoing all the old lines unless they wanted to purge all signs of the old VA (which makes sense if they were awful people like the old English Tighnari VA. Less sense if there's just contract issues))
@@Eclipsed_Embers replacement of va’s and not going back to re-record their older lines is very rare. Like u said, if they were a horrible person it makes sense, but this is also an ongoing game, an ongoing game usually wants a sense of identity throughout their entire lifespan. I can’t speak on how the Korean va business is, but cultural context and things like the terms of contract is important in a discussion like this. Ofc it’s sad to see old va’s get replaced (if they were good ppl that is), but it makes sense that most of the time they do go through the trouble of re-recording lines, because it’s literally someone’s voice. If they’re no longer working under the game, it doesn’t make sense to keep using their voice because of small details like that. Again, I can’t speak on the korean example u provided because I’m literally not familiar with the cultural context, but I would assume there’s some significance in the culture behind the decision. After all, someone passing away and someone being let off are two very different situations.
i didn't even notice a change in these two until twitter pointed it out.. great job to the new VAs, honestly. a shame so many changes have happened recently.
i thought huohuo just did the lines again cause of tail's new va...though new huohuo va did amazing job cause i couldn't tell the diffrence that she got replaced,and new tail va is really good and did good to replicate but old one is just nostalgic for me cause i use huohuo alot and i just miss the old one
If theyre not side by side, i wouldnt be able to notice/hear the difference, im amazed they didnt try differently and just tried to replicate the original as much as they can, to the best of their ability. As for argenti though, hes being replaced by markiplier in my head
Okay honestly both the new VAs of tail and huohuo sound pretty similar to the old one, so it's not that bad. But there is a hint of cuteness in huohuo's voice that no one can replicate except the old va. I'm going to miss that. But honestly, the character that actually got ruined was argenti. The new voice is so bad. Also, i know for argenti and tail, there was a reason that they changed the va. I don't remember what was it but i know there was, but why did they change huohuo's va. I actually don't know. Please if anyone knows, tell me. If the reason is that they changed tail's va to huohuo's had to be changed to, it's so stupid. I'm sure that they once changed the va of oz in genshin but fischl's va stayed the same
Im still getting use of the new va. Honestly hearing the new va is a bit unsettling well sure they try their best but i feel they don't connecting the characters to bring them to live. What i hear is like they mimic the voice for replacing them. I play hsr since the release day their voice really connected the characters. Now seeing two va was replaced it doesn't feel the same anymore. Huohuo old va fits her character but the new one did good but feels like they forcing to replace old one. Btw mr. Tail old va are same va in Argenti. The new va did great to voice Tail but in Argenti cast it feels off the raily the voice is... Too smooth and didn't feel like beauty man i know 😅 I don't complain the story but the battle voiceline... Ummm it hurts 🥲
Bit of a hot take but I like the new voices more than the old ones since HuoHuo sounds more scared and Tail sounds more serious it’s weird how that works for me
@@15harry150 well, ppl overreact these days alot about small things, if there is nothing to complain about, they will find something anyway. Personal, i have no issues with these new voices at all, if there are reasons for the VA to leave, get replaced, by what ever reason (and to be honest, its a contract between the company and the VA, not our business), then its up to them to handle it and not making a big public drama, because this may result just in a another take of cancel cultur 2024. With ppl having nothing else to do then spend there time in the wide web and being not accountable for the things they do mostly, like sendhing death threats to ppl who are not in charge or responsible at all, but hey...
I’m okay with the normal talking and cutscene lines, however I’m not a fan of the combat lines. Much of their tone sounds different. Tail had such a cool aggressiveness in his voice during the ult which is now toned down and his big booming voice isn’t as “booming” anymore. Huohuo just doesn’t give me the same queasiness and nervous energy, but does the have the scaredy cat aspect down. I don’t hate the new voice actors and I applaud them for trying to stay true to original. It just sucks that it came out with no warning. People who played with the character and really cared about them (me included) are just very bitter because of it. Again, no hate to the new VA’s and I really wish them the best of luck doing the voices. But such drastic change has adverse effects especially when it deals with something huge as a character’s voice.
@@15harry150that’s because then that would’ve been the original. No one likes unnecessary changes to something that was already good. In other people’s opinions, something already perfect. The original voice contributes a lot to the character and to the personality of them. It is what helps form the image of them in your mind. This means that even slight tonal differences and small nuances due to a different voice actor will make a whole character sound so different to some people. Because of this, it tells them that it is still Huohuo just not the same Huohuo. That’s what sets them off. If this new voice was the original, then yes of course people would complain still. But that’s how it is. The original sets the bar, not in terms of better voice acting or performance, but for the character. Any change in that, is definitely due to cause disruption.
@@eastonair exactly. You really need to hear the combat voice lines to see what people are talkking about, because truthfully, the voices in the cutscenes ARE fine. There really is NOT much of a difference. It's the combat lines that we hear 90% of the time that are messed up.
Ok, both voice actors did a good job at recreating the lines, especially with Huohuo. They are so close IMO that it sounded more like a different voice direction than switching the voice actresses. Tail sounds fine overall too.

I’ll give you some brief theories He got replaced due to bugs He got replaced due to them lying about the bugs and never treated him fairly Saga strike(seems the least plausible since the current va for argenti is with SAG-AFTRA so he could’ve been striked aswell) Mr Tail/ Argenti’s VA were sick and so was his son We mainly don’t have a reason form Honksi star rail yet so take this as a grain of salt(I don’t have much information on Huohuo’s VA)
Well I guess now I will always skip huohuo, I was thinking of taking it out to have a healer but with this change I won't take it out I already have a lot of supports just because of the VA I was going to take it out but this horrible change doesn't convince me 😷
I was truly considering to get Huohuo, however with this change, I can’t bring myself to hear a different Huohuo. I’m just too used to the old voice that every time I’ll hear the new one it’ll just make me sad again. I don’t pull for meta anyways. I will still support the new VA’s, but it’s just that those characters won’t be the same to me.
