Mastodon is fantastic. They simply can't miss with any of their newer, multilayered thrash-prog albums. Keep listening to them Hurm! The song Sleeping giant would be a natural continuation for you! That's a real peculiar, moreover a fantastic song. It's somewhere in the middle of their carrier both in the array of their albums (Blood mountain is the album), both in terms of time.

They’ve never missed in their career even tho all 8 of their albums sound different, very special band. Best discog in metal the last 2 decades Imo and honestly just an all time great metal discog

Check out their song Heart's Alive from their second album Leviathan and later their songs from their last album Hushed and Grim for example Gobblers of Dregs or Eyes of Serpents. Phenomenal band.

Love your reaction, Hurm. 😊Mastodon songs are often a trip, some longer and stranger than others but generally very satisfying! Got into them relatively recently but I’ve been blown away by their incredible consistency in quality on their albums despite their changes in style over the years. Going back to the start, I’d suggest March of the Fire Ants from Remission, released in 2002.🤘😎🤘
