It is a rare treasure, finding a cover song that actually manages to surpass the original. Hurra Torpedo unearths and brings to light the hidden layers of meaning and significance only hinted at in Bonnie Tyler's version. A song for the ages: we are lucky enough even to be able to say yes, to say that we were there, to bear witness to Hurra Torpedo.
This was on an extremely popular Norwegian tv-show in ca 1995, I still remember sitting paralyzed in front of the tv watching this song - the first time it was broadcastet
An absolute classic, I listened to it 10-15 years ago and thought it must have at least 400 million views. With my friends we have watched it at least 30 times, back in the days :D.
I had the pleasure of meeting the band in Athens Georgia in the fall of 2005. Ever since I show my friends one of their perfect renditions of Total Eclipse and kitchen appliance destruction. Everyone gained a new found appreciation of appliance bashing accompanied with great music. Glad to see you are still slamming doors and hammering stove tops.
@@TheoMurpse When they are lifting something heavy over their heads and slamming it down with very specific timing? Sure they do. Dude is more concerned with making sure he's doing his part correctly than being concerned if his clothing is on properly. That's an artist. Also, he's not the only person in the song wearing a tracksuit, so it's odd that that's how you interpreted that.
We're currently in the times of CoVid-19 and the quarantine is f*cking depressing, but Hurra Torpedo just made it 20 times better. Thanks, you beautiful weirdos.
That was the very first youtube video what I ever seen. It's 2020 and it's still amazing 😊 Now I can understand the lyrics! Thats what 14 years can do if the time well spent.
I actually had to study this in college. "Rock and Roll Appreciation and History", with Prof. Moskowitz, who was not only a great teacher but also genuinely one of the best people I've ever met.
I spent almost 20 years to find that song I hear during my studies. Never forget, still in my head and ears, that most full filled cover version. And today I found it! Drumer live for that moment 🙏
Drummers name is Kristopher Schau. Love that guy, done a lot of things after this like tv shows, podcasts and music. He is currently in the band The Dogs.
Do they travel with their instruments? Like, do they load those busted kitchen appliances into their tour bus or do they just hit up whichever dump is closest before each performance?
they go shopping or at festivals they get it fixed for them, they refused to walk on stage at a festival cause the festival people had put a microwave on stage and the band said we play rock, not techno =)
I over heard a conversation today "whats that bangin tune you were on about?". I instantly thought of this even though I haven't thought of this for probably over a decade.
Saw them in 2008 at the double door in Chicago. They wore those outfits the whole show, in a non-air conditioned club in July. They were insane. I believe they covered Britney Spears as well.
I saw this performance like 20+ years ago, a time long before RU-vid and even before MySpace was a thing. I was surfing some sites with hilarious stuff as I needed some laughs. I found a ton of stuff, without any ads! Can you believe that? And I found this cover, too. And I had my laughs. Now it's the month of August in 2022. I saw a video about a strange and really nice female inventor about weird robots chopping vegetables and then a giant robot chopping an oven. I remembered something. It was a song sung by Bonnie Tyler and I got a lot of memories as pictures in my mind, but was unable to "write" these into the search. But I tried her name and it revealed the next clue: Total Eclipse Of The Heart. However, I needed to add something into RU-vids search, as I found a TON of stuff, but nothing similar to what I was looking for. But 'oven' did the trick for me. I just added the oven to my search and I found it! I found this video. The circle is closed. And I had my laughs, again. Dopamine over 9000!!! 😄 If RU-vid still exists 20 years from now, as well as earth: Greetings from the past!
I’m Norwegian and saw this first time 18 years ago on the Norwegian television show: Lille Lørdag were this video is from 😎 Loved it then love it today
