Hurricane Beryl Lashes Jamaica With Tree-Snapping Winds 

Hurricane Beryl’s worst winds and ocean surge are smashing Jamaica’s south coast as the deadly storm stays just offshore on its way toward the Cayman Islands overnight. The eye of the Category 4 hurricane, which flattened much of Grenada Monday, paralleled Jamaica’s coast as it pushed westward, lashing the island with winds of 140 miles (225 kilometers) per hour.
