Hurricane Beryl passed us in Grand Cayman at 5:30am this Thursday morning, about 60 miles south of us, as a Cat 3. We did not lose power or water, not much damage, thankfully. The sea on Seven Mile Beach looked like glass. It was so smooth, but no, she passed us at 10:30am. The waves were starting to build, and a bit of rain. Thinking of the others who were deeply affected. Also, us locals call it CAYmaaaannnn, not CayMENS.
As Matamoros Mexico has almost three times population of Brownsville Texas, why is only Brownsville labeled on the map? To me it would be reasonable to hyphenate the two, as in Dallas-Fort or Minneapolis-St Paul, and to cater to the US audience, have it Brownsville-Matamoros in spite of the convention of the bigger city first.
Tourists stupid for not leaving. That is a 3rd world country with limited resources/planning for such an emergency. If your hotel is not damaged there still will be no power, food, or law enforcement. Remember Acapulco last year? No guarantee that airport will be open on your planned exit day.
Not really, this place is built to tolerate quite a bit of water. Unless you live in a garbage place like Boca Chica or Los Fresnos - most cities have strong storm water systems that drain into the rescas, Delta Irrigation canals, arroyo colorado as well as the Rio Grande.
@@alexarzamendi9475 Texas has shown that it values corporate profits over a robust infrastructure, at least by the elected officials who rely on big "donations" to get elected.
