Thursday Sept. 13, 2018 - Folly Beach, SC - Although not as much swell as expected, Folly locals were treated to a morning of fun surf as hurricane Florence made it's way towards the east coast of NC. The unusual swell came in and disappeared in literally a few hours due to the southeastern orientation of the island, but with the beach closed to the general public this swell was a special treat to locals who paddled out.

Does anyone in Folly Beach know Matthew Jackson? He’s from Folly Beach. He was in the Coast Guard stationed on UCGGC Northwind (Icebreaker) with me until decommissioning in 1989 in Wilmington, NC. He was a surfer back then. He is 51 years old. I haven’t heard from him in 30 years. Thank you. 🏄🏄🏄🏄🏄🏄👈🏻
