The other S.D.C. Hurricane coaster that previously operated at Adventureland in New York, now operates at Race City PCB in Panama City Beach, Florida. :-)
There used to be one in Santa Cruz Beach Boar walk , but they took it down & replaced it with a ride called the "undertow" I really miss the hurricane though.
+kawaiiunicorn 18 Yeah. Hurricane looks so much better than Undertow. And I like how Hurricane is a little bit more rare than Undertow. Really, there are so many of those Maurer spinning coasters everywhere.
kawaiiunicorn 18 did you know this is actually the same exact one that the boardwalk had? When the boardwalk dismantled it they sold the coaster to western playland and they built it. Now Santa Cruz has under tow.
i think this is the sant cruz hurricane, actually... lol. as in, they western playland literally bought it off it's original santa cruz owner, and piece by piece had the roller coaster reconstructed here in el paso. if that's the case, it's really a fun ride.
The old one used to be here in Brazil in a Park called Playcenter, but the park closed in 2012 and the coaster was solf to antother brazilian park that I forgot the name and still operating.
i always find it weird how these small rides find permanent amusement park spots instead of as travelling rides for county fairs, state fairs, or for Oktoberfest, instead of Olympia Looping and the other traveling coaster Oktoberfest has that's huge.
There used to be one of these up in Seattle right by the Space Needle about ten years ago... they got rid of it along with many other rides because it wasn't making them money anymore. I miss those rides.
So- if a park like Western Playland was to get one of these at this day and age now that SDC is gone, from who do they get their spare parts? Does Zamperla give it to them now that they own the Hurricane model?
Similar but they have shuttle differences such as RM has a drive tire lift while this has a lift chain also the one at over texas is a mirror image and also has different restraints and is manufactured by different companies
