I live in Wilmington, NC and thought for years I should leave the coast because of hurricanes, Fran, Floyd, Florence, etc. But our hurricanes have been survivable, unlike Helene. I am so sorry for your devastation. The government does fix the washed out and damaged roads, get the electricity turned on coordinated with the help of other states. But as far as food, water, gas, and property clean up, we're on our own. The small dance studio I teach at sent 2 trucks of supplies including a huge barrel of gasoline, water, food, etc. It'll land somewhere, hopefully, and help some folks. Whew, your landscape has completely changed! Much faster than our coastline. One night and boom, pow. It's gone.
