The mexicans came to help get survivors out for the rubble from their earthquake experience and the Florida government said no thank you. They could have saved lives but nope USA is too proud so be it.
@@johnperez93640.. you're wrong... many countries donate foreign aid to the US in times of humanitarian need. And what I think you don't realise about foreign aid is that it helps your country in the long term by enabling other countries to better control issues that will affect you later on down the line...e.g a country with geographical location that your enemy might otherwise take advantage of during a conflict. It isn't just blind charity.

In 1985, I lived in Tallahassee. In September of that year, we were hit by Hurricane Elena (Cat.3). Then, in November of '85, Hurricane Kate came through as a cat.3. During and after Elena, we were out of power for 2 weeks. That started my mom on her candle obsession. When Kate came through, if I remember correctly, we didn't lose power. If we did, it wasn't for very long compared to Elena.
