@@lemmeborrowthttop It's okay, Veronica. He's not a total monster who hates humanity. He made valid point on a RU-vid VIDEO, that's all. People should be aware that flood vehicles make it to market, and one should do their due diligence before buying any vehicle. I bet you HATE the First Amendment.
I went through Harvey. The build back and clean up are far worse than the storm. Dealing with insurance was a nightmare. Stay strong Florida. Help your elderly because ours were lost as to where to even begin. Lastly, it takes years to recover. Be prepared for it being a long time before things feel normal again.
I don’t want to sound insincere, but it’s not like everyone was pleading for anyone who was in sight of this storm to leave ! I agree you shouldn’t be forced out , but if you decide to stay then you have to face the consequences. It was clear this was going to be bad .
@@larbibejaoui4013 after Hurricane Donna a lot of people left AND other people who had a few bucks swooped in and bought up the place (acres and acres) and shortly thereafter went from semi-rich to wealthy. In any event, it is all temporary.
We got lucky here in Zephyrhills Florida we have some damage . Powers out in most areas I feel so bad for folks south of Tampa Bay , fort Myers, Naples, port Charlotte prayers to you folks ..
Some people don’t choose to stay. They simply don’t have the resources or support system. We are more alone than we’ve ever been. Not to mention the traffic crawling.
When did it become the mindset that coasts and beaches were places to live rather than to be visited. I know the appeal, but come on. I feel awful for all those people. Even living in the middle of the State is a gamble.
Cruel! Inflation is making it hard for working class to pay bills and eat. It is NOT their fault if they have no money to leave and no where to stay. Shame on you judgemental people. You have no idea
Why is it everyone's assuming the people that didn't leave are stupid? There are people who couldn't afford to leave or are immobilized and elderly, had no where to go. People are so judgmental yet you don't realize how terrifying it is for the people that couldn't leave that we're stuck in the middle of this knowing that they were supposed to evacuate but they had no way to.
Amazing and am sure we haven't seen anything yet once the tides settle down and go out again and this massive flooding exposes even more damage! "Batten down the hatches" as we say in old Yankee New England where we have lived through many a major hurricane usually the tail end of ones! Keep safe, Floridians!🙏🌴
We don't say that in FL! We prep for the hurricane then we chill! This isn't anything like a storm you'd get in New England. Our waters alone are so much warmer, it's what makes them so powerful. They don't get the same kind of storm that we do. that up north not FL, know your crowd
@@alongfellow4147 I know my crowd, because I've lived near the ocean and Cape Cod Bay my whole life! The ocean temperatures are much warmer here now because of GW/CC! That's whats also attracting more sharks than ever before, they love warmer waters! We also have more severe beach erosion and had huge icebergs taller than human beings on the outer beaches here a few years ago, first time ever as the Arctic ice cap is melting! There are photos of that on Google images and in the media! Hurricanes will get more powerful here as well due to GW/CC! We also have flooding here, too! And tornadoes but not as huge as elsewhere in the states! Pays to stay environmentally AWARE!
Pull out your wallets insurance companies karma has arrived, this time no excuses people have been paying in thousands year after year!! give all 2.5M peoples what they deserve cars and houses furniture and everything is lost. my heart goes to everyone out there!!
After the storm blows through is when the real damage is going to be witnessed. It is going to take weeks and months to recover. This is terrible. People are going to need help now!
With all the data available on annual catastrophic flooding in prone areas like barrier islands, lowlands, swamp/marshes, why do people stay year after year?! Is it the location that is really worth the trouble? Boggles the mind.
@@Lifeisgoodbelieve1in3 I see it in my own county where folks living on barrier islands are always whining about their houses being damaged by flooding, all their possessions swept out to sea or pollute their immediate surroundings, and the surface they rebuild on is still soft from being water logged, then they renovate for a few months and a few months later the following year, it happens again (and again, and again...)! No one is forcing them to keep making bad choices -- it's laughable almost, but sad!
The irony is they probably will need federal aid; which in turn means they gonna need a lot of federal taxes to pay for FEMA etc, and CA being the state with the highest population, ultimately pays and contributes the most federal taxes, which in turn means that CA (democrats) are bailing out the Fl (republicans).
FL Under Desantis has a HUGE!! treasury now, More than enough! and things are being repaired at Break neck speed! Thank GOD for Desantis and Trump! everything is speeding along
@@marsmars9130 DeSantis requested Federal aid from Biden last week. Here is the caption taken from DeSantis' own website (flgov): _"Governor Ron DeSantis Requests President Biden Approve Major Disaster Declaration and 100 Percent Federal Cost Share for 60 Days for Hurricane Ian"_
@@chriswilson9331 More likely the fact they had no weather satellites, radar or any other technology to predict the time and path of the storm. Actually a really stupid comparison.
why are thousands of people still waiting to be rescued when they were begging everyone to get out? You guys are now putting extra stress on these poor guys who have to rescue you. The Rescuers should prioritize elderly or sick who couldn't move.
Hey, not everyone has a place to go, or the financial resources to get there, or the paid time off to do so. These Hurricanes hit and miss, and they aren't predictable where they hit until final hours.
@@dagsterblaster4973 that’s fair but I am pretty sure at least 30% of those people had the means and took a chance anyways. I know a coworker whose son got a scholarship for football is stuck in fort Myers and he finally got a flight today to return to NY but the amount of stress the mother went through to get him is insane, she was crying non stop. My wife and I helped her find a flight last night out of rsw. I know things are not as easy as they look but there are a ton of people with means who decide to stay. But you are right there are things that we probably don’t understand being that we are not from there. Hope we are never put in a test like that must be horrible
@@jrpacer6355 I think you are right we non Floridians probably don’t understand the dynamics however this does scare the heck out of those of us who have a fantasy of owning a Florida home
Folks living close to the coast line demand that your local government rebuild BETTER/SMARTER. Homes should not be build at ground level but instead RAISED.
Please no more rebuilding near the beaches. Leave them for public parking so others may enjoy the beach and sunsets. In South Carolina you can’t find any parking because the homes take up all the beaches.😡😡
Can you imagine what people went threw with hurricane andrew? Ian was very bad but andrew was a monster that changed what florida looked like after andrew nothing looked the same there it took years to rebuild
@@arthurhunt642 Perhaps the hurricane shrunk Tigertail beach a little bit. I walked that beach last January, and it seem to take forever to get to the ocean. Now, perhaps it’s a much shorter walk.
So heartbreaking 💔 --- all that loss, due to NO fault of their own! Wake up people --- Mother Nature is PISSED off with the way we have destroyed her planet!!! 🥺
I heard high tide flooding affected homes 3 miles from shoreline. If that is indeed true, I am worried about all these small island nations that are not even 3 miles wide with many people living on them.
I live in Naples. I'm far enough away from the beach that the surge had no effect on me. I don't have power and yes its inconvenient but I still wouldn't trade it for anywhere else.
Why? All of those morons chose to live in a known Hurricane Zone. Hurricanes have been hitting Florida for centuries, it's not like a hurricane hitting there should be a surprise to anyone.
I believe Scientists and Engineers should be working on ways to stop these in their track. I understand satellites can detect an eye forming when its about 1/4 of a mile across. Small enough to have one of the weaker walls blown apart with munitions or microwave technology. It's time we try to control this terrible life threatening hazard.
@@Kauffman578 Doctor, I understand your reluctance but try to think positively. Shouldn't we try to do some good, and be vigilant of efforts to cause more havoc. Sometimes good things happen,; Dr. Salk's vaccine.
God has everything to do with mercy, as HE is the only one that can give us comfort in times of need. Also, the condemnation upon this Earth (not just this country), has everything to do with sin and the evil in peoples hearts. Without the blood Jesus shed on the cross we wouldn't stand a chance...not even the righteous in their own eyes. However, God teaches us to continually seek him and ask for help. Open the Gosple and build a relationship with God while you still have a chance and stop bashing on others
In some maps I have seen it does look like about 10% of the landmass was affected. But yes they should have said decimating the state. But not too many people remember that to “decimate” originally meant something like “take every 10th man...” etc.
@@andrewbarrett1537 Yah. I need to let go of the damage the American education system has done to us all. But sometimes that one gets used like the a caped superhero of Catch Phrases. Repetition . . . fails to foster interest. Info-tainment connotes entertainment. A broader choice of vernacular ought to engage a bigger audience.
People NEVER seems to amaze me. Whenever a huge storm like this is heading your way and it's THAT Strong and Dangerous?? Get THE HELL OUT!!! save yourselves and family. Everything else is materialistic. NOT your life. Now people are saying they need to be rescued or help from near drowning. With Days of warnings. I have no remorse at all when i see the one's who stayed behind trapped or on top of their roofs waving their hands for help. Especially when you had ample amount of time and warned to leave or evacuate. Hint People- Storm coming in 4 day's? Gas up- Gear up-Get out early. Storm over then go back home. Note: Don't mess with Mother Nature. The govr. Should have had the local schools or charter buses ready to transport anybody out of the a area to a safer area and had hotels or shelter ready for those who needed evacuation help. Now THAT is when you can legally bus people and NOT have to spend 600k.
Actually the course changed in that last 24 hours before landfall. It was supposed to go to Tampa Bay and it took a right turn instead. They didn’t expect it in Ft Myers and many people evacuated to Orlando which got hit too.
I'm sorry to say this but I think if you did not evacuate seeing as this was a mandatory evacuation if you did not evacuate and you call 911 to be rescued you should pay the county you definitely should have to pay a fine
Do you live on the coast of Florida ?! If you don’t then get off your high horse and stop acting like you’re the smartest person in the room. Walk a mile in their shoes then you might understand otherwise zip it 🤐

I say the same for those that leave but to each their own. I didn't leave and im glad I didnt!!!! I prepared my house, checked my hurricane supplies and sat back and chilled!
I imagine some folk have lived there their whole lives. They have lived through countless hurricane scares and encounters. They may not have anywhere to go. They may not want to leave their home or their neighbors behind. That could be everything they have in life. They may not have taken it seriously enough because they’ve lived through these before and didn’t realize how bad this one would end up being. It’s not an easy decision to make for all. What if you don’t have a reliable car? Can’t afford enough gas to get out of Florida? People have different circumstances.
@@BL-jt3qt what a dumb and insensitive comment. Several of the reasons I gave above apply. Not everyone chooses where they are born and/or are able to escape said place. Also Florida is a fine state. Do you call the people of Kansas or Oklahoma stupid if a tornado destroys the farm they’ve lived in for generations?

That attitude sucks. The areas where Ian ended up hitting were not the originally pinpointed targets. When you live in Florida you have a hard time knowing when it's really time. Regardless, I'm happy that you are so superior that can't even drum up sympathy. Disgusting.
