Every meteorologist said that Hurricane Michael (2018) was a Cat 4 storm, but later upgraded the storm to Cat 5 months later. I would not be surprised if the same is done with Hurricane Ian.
Yeah especially since it made landfall at their official wind gauges by flight hurricane hunters of 2 mph less than a Cat 5. I'm sure it will be revised as well.
@@thegreatape884 Insurance coverage changes. If it is a Cat 4, insurance claims carry a 20% deductible. If it is a Cat 5, insurance claims carry zero deductible. There is definitely a financial incentive for the insurance companies to insist that the hurricane is only a Cat 4.
Most of these comments make me realize how cold-hearted, uncaring and barbaric people are. If it's not happening to you, you literally don't care. It's both sad and infuriating.
I care! My mother lives there in a Rv at an Rv park, and is hunkered down in a hotel. I texted and called and can’t get an answer. I’m so worried and sad for all the people that are affected by this hurricane!
I care about the manatees a Florida let starve to death because the cheap state couldn't put in decent sewers and the seagrasses died. I care about the suffocated reefs and the abandoned pets. Peoples vacation homes nope. Not to mention it's not like hundreds of scientists warn people. You move there into your ugly blocky condo on a sand spit you roll the dice.
Human beings have known for hundreds of years that it is not safe to live near the ocean because of hurricanes and sunamis, but people still to this day build houses right beside the ocean knowing there is at least a 99 percent chance they are going to be hurt or killed and they still do it anyway.
@@vicariouschism86 God had to create disturbances in order to allow for the potential of unlimited goodness. The other alternative would have been to create us in a perpetual state of bliss, without allowing for the possibility of free will and caring, which would apparently result in less potential for good being possible that I'm aware of.
What can possibly be said to those who live in this beautiful state. From California, glad to see the people of Florida evacuate promptly and as safely as you could. 😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏♥️ Be with everyone.
It may have been beautiful years ago but it's an overdeveloped mess that couldn't even put in decent sewage systems so the seagrasses died, and manatees starve. Reefs are suffocated. It's like a concrete and tar block stuck in the ocean with lots of sediment and chemical runoff. Besides the 600 people a week that move in.
I live here in Fort Myers and I stayed here for the hurricane it's just crazy to see all the stuff about the hurricane after experiencing it I remember waking up and looking downstairs and just seeing water we're still getting things fixed in the house. I'm just glad to be here.
@@Sora-o The news ALWAYS exaggerates EVERYTHING! A regular Tropical storm could roll in and they'll be like "Residents here are preparing for this life threatening storm!"
Saharan breeze, 150 metric tons of vapor from the Tonga eruption the eruption is still in our stratosphere, and a front facing solar storm all at the same time... Then an arctic blast soon after.
Just because someone committed a sin or made mistakes in life does not mean he or she deserves to be hated and judged and laughed at. You see,i can go on and on how much i went through and that is going way back then in the past, was called ugly when its not my fault, was spit on,was and is bullied, was lied to, and now all these bullies and so on. Justice for me please. I cant stand unfairness!!

Yes that’s a good suggestion...... Hello ma’am ,I really love your comments and thought it would be nice if I had introduced my self to you......am James from Mississippi and am new here am nice to chat with.....hope and it would be fun here to hear from you thanks
@Dana Johnson When Vermont got flooded out by Irene we received well wishes from Alaska to Florida. From Hawaii to the Carolina's. From Maine to California. From Michigan to Texas. And everywhere in between. We may have our political differences but first and foremost WE are AMERICAN. President Biden will send Florida all the help it needs. United we stand. MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA
I know news station locally only want to think Lee county got hit but Charlotte, Sarasota, Desoto and Hardee got hit. North Port NEVER GOT THE EYE…NO BREAK CONSTANT PONDING! Now our area is dealing with flooding due to Peace & Myakka River. REPORT THAT! We need coverage! Don’t forget us!!!
Dear God💗❤️💗❤️💞🙏in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the , life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Amen.
Whoo Naples that's where the money is "it is a fool who builds his house upon the sand" is a prudent point . As a former Lee County resident this hits close to home for me . I think any death caused by this is tragic , But I can also say to the survivors I can't think of a county in Florida that deserves this more . Enjoy the mud bath I hate everything about you.
STAY HOME, AND SAFE EVERY ONE...THIS IS NOT A GAME..LET THE AUTHORITIES DO THEIR JOBS.. THERE'S NOT REASON FOR YOU TO BE IN THE STREETS..GOB BLESS.. It
Holy carp! Thank you for that comment! Sensationalism is what sells, that's why they do it.... yet most intelligent people, just want the facts. Can't trust media news anymore.
This is happening now in Florida, Hurricane IAN. I remember this Movie GEOSTORM- by Gerard Butler and Andy Garcia. What IF this are not Acts of God but rather Acts of Men? What a powerful tool which someone could use to control and manipulate... right? ITS Horrifying what they have to put up with! Please don't erase this comment. People should be able to think for themselves. Let us be DISCERNING, as the Lord says let us keep watch and be discerning
"Over dramatic" ? My neighborhood is DESTROYED. How about you come live through an "average" hurricane. Hear the terrifying sounds of the wind scraping away at the house you live in, watch the flood waters come up through the floor, and hear the terrifying shrieks of your family and pets at each loud bang.
Our government gave $17 billion dollars to Ukraine. Hope they have funds available for all of Florida. And those electric cars all failed the evacuation process.
Seeing the devastation should be a wake-up call to everybody. From Hurricane Andrew State of Florida got tough building codes, and it is my sincere hope if people still want to live right next to the big ocean waters, it would be mandatory to build on 20 feet stilts to allow the heavy mass to flow underneath and take away the impact of the moving mass to the structures, just like in Key West. Florida's West Coast is stunningly gorgeous paradise, but State's Governor's statements about "once in a 500-year event" are both ridiculous and clownish, at best. There will be another event within the next 10 years, perhaps a number of times within that time period, possibly a stronger Hurricane than Ian was. Safety is job #1, and building on stilts is the way for people to keep on enjoying the unique, beautiful sub-tropical paradise. "Once-in-a-100-year-", or "Once-in-a-500-year-event"-statements do not reflect the new normal.
Paradise? Yea, it seems it! DeSantus, bugs, hurricanes, Humidity. Dire Poverty in many areas, meth, fentanyl, crack, bath salts, zombies, bugs, more bugs, bugs, Florida man, crazy people, white socks and sandals, early bird special drivers, mosquitoes, red necks, critters, bugs, and creepy people, oppressive summer heat. Been there, done that. A true paradise.
