Milton has weakened into a Category 3 hurricane as its wind speeds fluctuate off the coast of Florida. CBS News' David Yeomans, Cristian Benavides and Manuel Bojorquez have the latest. Plus, Trish Pfeiffer, mayor of Bartow, Florida, joins to discuss how her town is preparing.

It is generally accepted that the severity of storm surge lags actual wind speed by about 12 hours so even if it drops to cat 3 hours before landfall, the storm surge will be as that of a cat 4.

This doesn’t mean anything? The storm surge will be the same. And they were anticipating it to drop to a low 4 cat 3 by landfall. So please tell me what you’re celebrating. Maybe wait until the storm actually hits tonight lol

Still very deadly. Think of it this way- a rattlesnake bite isn't as potent as an inland taipan's (the most venomous snake in the world), but you still *do not* want to get bit by a rattlesnake. It's still perfectly capable of ending your existence. Remember that the biggest danger from a hurricane is drowning. Be safe... and good luck.
