This Cat 6 hurricane was a real beast. Oh wait ... it was a Cat 3. People die in regular thunderstorms. Not trying to minimize, just saying the press hyped this up, like they always do. They hyped this as the "biggest hurricane of the century". No it wasn't ... hurricane Katrina was much bigger. At one point it was so large it took up the space of 90% of the Gulf of Mexico.

Man it's almost like the storm that broke records weakened as it got closer to land. Just as every news network was saying, that being said. This storm is still terrifying.
The only thing that concerned me was how fast it went from 2 to 5 on Momday. Scary how fast it grew. It came down to 3 before landfall so it wasnt as bad. I checked livestream cams in a orlando and east coast and there was very little damage. Looks like it didnt do as much past the west coast.
I totally knew about time it his Florida it will be downgraded to a cat 3 or 2 and would not be nowhere near what the news media wanted you to freak out about.
Let's be honest, many people who didn't leave either couldn't get transportation or figured they wouldn't get far with the insane traffic jams everywhere. It's not always incompetence and over confidence that "it won't happen to me". Many times it's the physical inability to leave. Just crazy that it's back to back huge storms. People just started getting back home from Helene, only to be greeted by Milton.
Any company that ran an ad during this coverage should be held accountable for the deaths of some of the people we lost. Knowingly interrupting emergency coverage that people use to keep their families safe during these disasters. Clearly geared ads towards people who are losing everything and trying to basically scam them.
You have no clue do you the network decides for the most part when these commercials are going to be played with the exception of the world series of the super bowl where advertisers pay a premium I doubt a single advertiser paid a premium to have their commercial play during disaster coverage the blame the networks

I personally am very interrested with climate events. But never had the chance to visit US. In an evacuation situation for hurricane do people gather in stadiums? Were there anyone in the stadium at that point? Or due to the risk of wind, stadiums are not used? I hope someone with experience could let me know.

Hurricane Milton was a wimp, it was an overrated wuss at Landfall, the damage to the Roofs were Tornados, that wasn't Milton, that's a Tornado, Milton was a weakling.
And something peculiar about all these tornadoes in America. Considering we get 1150 a year and the the rest of the world altogether gets under 200......

This has been the driest year in the South.I've known in 25 years and then helicopters.Spraying chemicals overhead , and then we automatically have another hurricane. What a coincidence
