Fun fact: some pilots actually prefered Hurricane over Spitfire. I don't know all the reasons but one is that Hurricane has bigger rudder which makes the plane more stable.

I was playing a single mission with this plane and I almost rage quit when the enemy planes just kept bouncing my 40mm HE shells.

Thick wing is good for lift at low speeds, like on a Piper Cub. The faster you go, the more air is passing over and under the wing, hence more lift. However, with more lift comes more induced drag, so the faster you go, the thinner an airfoil you want.

1:30, the wing is more thick because they needed more lift, if you see the wing, above looks like a mountain and below looks kinda flat, that makes the path of the airflow above the wing more lengthy, generating a less pressure sistem there, that means the high presure sistem below the wing will "push" the wing up, generating more lift, something needed because the plane was heavy and otherwise wouldn't be maneuverable, it would be interesting to see how the hurricane whould flown if it maintained the weight, but had thin wings, and some aerodynamics improvements

hey Steve, love the vids, keep up the good work, examples why they still train pilots the old (proper 1930's) way - if for example you have a full electrical (avionics) (lightning strike) failure and you aircraft is still flyable, being able to read and understand a map is priceless, another example, if you need to make a forced landing in an uninhabited area and need to walk out to safety, use of the good old fashioned map and compass will win everytime

Fly. This is really really funny, I'm in a Youth Leadership Camp for Air Force ROTC and we were just talking about camber of wings and how the wing and the plane create lift. Typing this comment it is almost lights out. Great job on the video bro.

Columbus AFB is pretty neat. They always fly training routes over Starkville's campus; I'd see them fly over in pairs a few times a day when I was there.

Damn I love this plane just for its shear ability to make me howl with laughter when I land a shot on someone far away and tear their plane a new one.

I live in Oklahoma City and see T-6's & T-38's fly over all the time, as well as E-3 AWACS & KC-135's. They used to have C-130's stationed here, but BRAC relocated them a few years back.

the Columbus airbase is about 40 minutes from my house, I see planes fly over my house all the time rtb. once I saw an ac 130 fly over with an apache escort. I went to an airshow there a few years ago and they had a group of jets- it wasn't the blue angels, but they flew similar planes -also a line up of ac 130s and some stunt planes.

I really like the coms with teammates in game play. Have not figured that part of the game yet.

the surface area is the same no mater how thin or thick the leading edge is, depending in the actual size of the wing. it won't cause more drag or lift. the length and width is what determines that

That's what makes the mk4 good it's turning. It's got a damm good turning circle and can hold its own in a dogfight it ain't very good in a 1v1 with a fighter though but it's good enough to stall if in arcade for backup to help and then you've got the sky kv2 cannons which can have air target rounds

Phly the i 153 chaika it is a very fun plane to use but you have to use stealth rounds to make it a little bit harder for yourself.

Playing with people who don't have many subs, nice idea. Mabye a series of this for planes? For next one use He-112 B-0s

Hurricanes had the same engine as the spittys of its time. Ive got a news paper articlel at home of a new prototype plane called..... the " Hurricane " blowing the world speed record out of the water. so cool haha. Also constantly having your ammo count up ruins RB

Phly, have you tried using the Tempest with the Vickers guns? I can't seem to figure out how to make that plane work, the recoil and reload is just brutal...

IMO this is the most OP plane at it's BR, I have several 8 kill games in it since I began using it as a fighter and usually get at least 5.

You should play any P-38 (Except the E). Those are my favorite planes in the game after the P-47s got nerfed.

Phly, you really do need to fly the 40 mil hurry again. The air target belts are basically the same muzzle velocity as the 7.7s and imo the easiest guns to aim.

ok so firstly in my eyes the hurricane Mk IV's engine was actually a good engine, for its time but people assume its a bad engine because the typhoons engine (I think it's the Merlin) which came soon after the hurricanes was so much better and people look to it more fondly despite the HUGE intake which was a danger when performing an emergency belly landing as it would just gouge into the ground and could cause the plane to flip

The only thing I want to know is, did you help him get his ammo counter on?

so Phly how do i fix my ammo count so i can see it, i never figured it out my self.

The twin 40s, their 25 (I think) rounds of ammo each, they kept some 303s for targeting and the added armour to the cockpit, engine and radiator made it much heavier. They modified the wing to generate the increased life required at it's allowed top speed.

Ahh, the Hurrican IV... ya know, if I decide to fly out a Do17, because I like to spade my planes, or a bomber, I like to abbreviate the "Hurricane IV" into... well.

That plane is god, one shot on an undamaged B25 and any British bomber is stuffed, great plane if you can deal with the speed issues

i love playing this plane in tank RB. just take the T17E2 with it to get easy points and no uptier. it pens almost any tank at this tier.

the f35 also used electric motors for the elevators and flaps instead of hydraulics

Reasons why people don't like the F-35: 1: So far, it's cost the US upwards of a trillion dollars. 2: Each individual unit is probably going to cost a shit tonne too(and yes, that matters extremely in the military). 3: It does too many things. 4: It doesn't do any of them well. 5: Well, supposedly, since it hasn't really done much anyways. 6: It's VTOL. 7: But can't take off vertically...or really land vertically...or really hover. 8: It's a strike-fighter that can't carry bombs(not enough, anyways). 9: It's a close-support aircraft that doesn't have any armor. 10: It's also a close support aircraft that can't carry bombs. 11: It's a stealth fighter...that isn't stealthy. 12: It cost the US a trillion dollars and it's still nowhere to be seen. 13: Did I mention it cost the US a trillion dollars and it's not projected to enter service...period. 14: Did I mention it cost the US a trillion dollars yet it under-performs all of the aircraft it's supposed to replace? 15: Did I also mention that no one wants it? Not the AF, not the Navy, not the Marines, no one. 16: It's been in development for 20 years? 17: Did I also mention that? 18: Because I just did. 19: And the only reason it made it this far has been lobbying, bribery and corruption in Congress. 20: Because it's the F-35.

The Hurricane mark 4 is really good if used well, i got 4 kills fast with it

Use the 2 best (totally not hardest) plane and tank to use; the BF 109 E1 and the panzer 3

I gotta say I am glad Phly think the same of mouse-aim as I do. I honestly think that the mouse-aim in War Thunder is the flight game equivalent to mouse-aim in FPSs. It's something that should become the new standard in flight games.
