He is COMPLETELY RIGHT. Those of us who consider ourselves to be "nationalist" ....to be aware of the possibility of our nationalism spiraling down into xenophobic jingoism which is now prevalent in Pakistan. As a staunch nationalist Indian...I want my nation..and all our people regardless of color/caste/religion...to progress & prosper together.
If Indian Hindus are given legal parity with minorities, like running schools, temples etc; and if in districts where Hindus are in a minority, like Kashmiri Pandits, are given justice, then HIndus will not become right wing. Critics of Hindutva often don't understand why Hindus are increasingly supporting RSS. Its because of 7 decades of legal disparity between majority and minority by secular parties. Unlike Islamists, right-wing Hindus don't want to create a theocracy. They just want legal parity and same rights. So, if a Hindu man can marry one wife, then Muslims should also have a one wife limit. If seculars allow them 4 wives, then obviously there will be a reaction from Hindus. Also, if Wahabism and evangelical activities are not strictly controlled, out of fear Hindus will become right wing. Mr.Haqqani needs to understand these things before sayingthat India is also becoming like Pakistan. We are nothing like Abrahamic faiths.

It doesn’t matter how other countries look at Pakistan but it matters how India and Pakistan behave to each other. No one can hurt them if these two countries work together.
I cant find a single recent interview of HH by a Pakistani journalist. Burring our head in sand would not solve anything. Interview, talk to him , argue with him , atleast disagree with him for crying out load , this guy was our ambassador to US not too long ago.

It's ripe and right time we shunned our illogical predilection for the populist Islamist Ideology and return back to Jinnah's Secularism. Hussain Haqqani is thorough laureate on modern era of Pakistan, He has been student leader whome elected as Presideny of student union of Pakistan largest university in 1980, I have honour working for him being a member of Islami Jamiat e TALABA, Karach as senior member. I know him personally, Haqqani is a,born literate person ,, his academic achievement is remarkable. His ability of Seeing future developments is amazing, I will get his book and definately read his written book. Beong in USA ,I feel myself Safe. Can read and keep his book, otherwise being in Pakistan it is impossible, would have been Disappeared by SPY AGENCY at once, thereafter No One would have find out me again. Except my Dead Body wud have discovered from bushes.

It does make a lot sense. Do you really think there was even an iota of logic behind what happened with these protests here in India? Same thing happened in Pakistan too. These are fake protests, done to whip up emotions of the (half-educated/uneducated mostly) people to achieve something. Unfortunately, in this part of the world we have a lot of such people who are jobless too(hence, easily bought with money). I don't know the reason behind the protests that Hussain Haqqani was talking about. As for the Padmavat protests, as I know, Karni Sena is an extortion racket that works under the garb of promoting Rajput interests. Its a brilliant business model one you understand it; you win no matter what happens.
