And we're back! After that grueling business last year, it's only right that Alf continues his journey into Tomb Raider 2 to celebrate its 25 year anniversary.
In this episode he gets back to grips with the controls in Croft Manor, and faces the gauntlet of traps in the Great Wall.

Tomb Raider 2 is the first TR I ever played. I didn't even know what Tomb Raider was as a kid up until that point. One of the most nostalgic games for me, so many adventures! 🙂

This is also my first one, although i couldnt go beyond venice and i remember i didnt like it because i was terrified of the men that suddenly appeared. And because of this i stopped playing tomb raider until much much later when angel of darkness came out and i finished it, then i started to fall in love with all of the games :)

His face after the 'With-a-tommy-a-gun-on-a-ma-keyrring' line was hilarious. I think that was many of us when we first heard it. Not only is the accent terrible, but it's hard to actually understand what he's saying. I only found out what that line was after reading the script online. Lots of the dialogue in TR2 is really weird.

My favourite is the American pilot in the first Antarctica FMV in TR3. I can’t remember what the script actually said but the guy sounds like he’s saying “This is Ham Lunch to base.”

If you remember getting items with the gold dragon in the first level, you definitely had gotten the all three, the stone, the jade and the gold dragon, in each level the player is rewarded as the pick up the last dragon, some rewards much greater then the rest, for instance you get the grenade launcher in the first level for god sakes 🤣

"Oh no it's a jump." That was so funny considering the rest of the level (and the rest of the game but... the first level is special :D ) This is gonna be fun! I hope Alfredo will deal with the human enemies as easily as with the T-Rexes, or else it might get a bit frustrating for him. He dealt with the guantle of traps relatively easily though! Unless there are many cut attempts :D Looking forward to the next part and his commentary of Italy as depicted in Tomb Raider!

Chris the grenade launcher, ammo and a medipak would have been there but in this game you have to collect all three secrets in order to recieve the reward

Tomb Raider II was my first TR game, so I'm so excited that you guys are playing it. Still my favorite in the series and a rush of nostalgia. I felt it in my bones when Alfredo said "Oh no. I have to jump." Also, the pure giddiness from Chris when Alfredo arrived at the beginning of the gauntlet section was delightfully evil. 🤣 Can't wait to see you guys tackle Venice next!

So nice to see you gorgeous hunks again. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing you do Lara's home. I was willing you on in the maze. Always a pain that was. And the Great Wall. It made Christmas 1997 very interesting for me. I loved the traps there too. It is tricky to get the Jade Dragon but it is all in the timing. Always loved the T-Rex secret too. One of the best for sure. Thank you for a great video and here's to Venice.

Tomb Raider 2 will always be my #1 favorite Tomb Raider game 🥰. Although it’s only been 5 years since I’ve started playing Tomb Raider games, to see someone else play it for the first time is genuine. Core Design really did their best until the end😭. I hope Nicobass’ remake version of this game is going well and that many people will help him make it come true (if and only if Embracer Group and Crystal Dynamics are ever not up to the task of remastering/remaking these classics).

@@ReactionZero I totally agree with you hahaha😭. I quite failed to enjoy The Last Revelation because of the same things you said. I think I remembered finding a crowbar that only opens 1 specific small gate inside a dark crawlspace, instead of using it for all gates was what made me really upset. There also was this nitro booster that I never knew was necessary and you need to find it for your tricycle. It’s even hard to make sharp turns with the tricycle hahaha, not to mention it takes a while to reverse with it. But the storytelling was really superb. The cutscenes were so good too. Core Design always knew how to make TR games unsettling if not horrifying, compared to the modern entries right now. And Lara’s almost tragic ending, oof!

@@reinhardtjosephfigueroa5437 I never actually beat all Last Revelations levels either. I used level skip cheats as a kid on the levels I couldn't beat. Like the puzzle with the bug you have to place on a certain tile and it will walk.

Well done Alfredo! Hope you had a great time 😊 TR2 is my absolute favourite of the series! Chris, have you really never been able to get the jade dragon? It's not about being fast enough. Just jump and veer to the left when reaching the third blade. Hopefully you'll land just on the dragon. you pick it up and start running.

when i first played Tomb Raider 2 I thought it was such a difficult game but when I discovered Tomb Raider Last Revelation it turned out to be a whole another level of difficult😂

Welcome back Chris and Alfredo ;D Its great to see Alfredo in action once again. Also a reason for me to replay TR2 as well this time with achievements through retroarch. Pity OpenLara doesnt work in this one, those water effects.... It’s not so much you shouldn’t use the left thumbstick as much as it is you can’t: TR1 & TR2 on PS1 were D-pad only, same on Saturn. TR3 onward had analog controls but they sucked as Lara often would walk or even dive if you ran or jumped when turning and pushed the stick the wrong way, at least in TR3. Emulating the D-pad via the thumbstick on PSP actually made analog work a lot better than the actual analog controls. The Dreamcast versions of TR4 & TR5 thankfully had good analog controls. AOD had weird ones, but they were much better than TR3’s.

Rare content. I had my best friend (he's never played a TR game before) play TR2. The first level kicked his ass over and over but he DID beat it without my help. I bring it up because there is a debate that new games are easy compared to old games. Yeah yeah a From Software game can be "hard" but I don't consider it or TR games hard. The ONLY TR game I haven't played is The Last Revelation. One day....
