Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

I can't thank you enough for this video. My saw just stopped working last night in the middle of a cut. By following your disassembly process, I was able to determine I had a busted fuel line. With luck, I'll be up and running tomorrow after getting a replacement line and filter.

Great video. When I shook out the gas to store it, that filter fell out and I had no idea what it was, or how to replace it. You saved me a lot of money and showing how to adjust the carb was the icing on the cake. Thank you!

A great thanks Dony for the video. Even if the video is old, it saved my life 🙂🙂. I have a 20 years old 136 that worked very well until a few days ago. I had zero knowledge of how to determine the cause and repair before I saw your video. Thanks also for the references of the products to order. It's a great job. My chainsaw is now working perfectly again. 👍👍 France.

I ground flats on each side of the adjustment screws and made a simple tool with an oblong female shape. Thanks again Dony for great explanations. I used the settings you showed at the end of this video and that got my machine running! Next step: use it under load. Thanks again.

"It only fits on one way" In college I worked for a small engine repair shop. A new kid came in, son of a friend of the boss/owner. Replaced diaphragms in a small carb, it didn't work. Boss goes back in to check what has happened, diaphragm on wrong, screwed down until the alignment pins made new holes in the material. Boss exploded, kid quit. You produce awesome detailed videos with specific examples and wide application. Thank you! And stay safe.

WOW, talk about a nice step by step video, fantastic! My Husqvarna 455 just started exhibiting a "bogging down" symptom which seems to be common. The saws about 4 years old and doesn't see a lot of use but is maintained using fresh fuel and is cleaned and sharpened regularly. Over the past year I noticed the rpm's seemed higher than when new and the saw actually started to cut better. Unfortunately the bogging started yesterday in the middle of cutting some standing oak. I wish you were closer, I'd drop it off! Bob

I really liked this one. It's clear and covers the basics most homeowners will run into with occasionally used saws..like me. I have a balky Craftsman/Poulan and your tip at the end jibes with my vapor locking and hot start issue. I think it's set too lean for the Gas-a-hol we have. Great job as always and thanks for taking the time and effort to share it with us.

Nice video, just changed my fuel line out with the help. Like to add just a few observations, and tips. First, I think I'll empty my fuel tank between extended uses as it may help in extending the life of the fuel line considering the ethanol in the fuel is probably the biggest culprit in ruining the fuel line. The replacement line will seem like it is different diameter then the original but actually the original line will swell because of the ethanol and give it larger diameter appearance with thinner wall thickness. Also, putting the angle cut in the line to feed through the hole can be done with a pair of scissors and if you make it very long and tapered (like an inch) it will feed through the hole very easy, once it stops, grab it with a pair of hemostats (my Pet Smart had some) and pull it. Pulling it will decrease the diameter and make it easier to get thru. I found needle nose pliers to be too large and bulky to really get in there, the hemostats were awesome.

Brilliant and unhurried explanation, I was looking for guidance on my 137 Husqvarna reference replacing the fuel line which has perished. Hi Don, just subscribed and like many of your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise.I have a Husqvarna 460 rancher (24") and after doing my yearly maintenance (spark plug, air and fuel filter) had the misfortune of discovering a cracked fuel line. The line is cracked coming from the bulb towards the engine - it is a clear/amber line, not the black opaque line that is from the fuel tank.Do you have any videos showing how to repair this? If I'm not mistaken, I do have to take the carburetor off. I've been watching these videos and I think I can manage without a specific video for my issue.Again, thank you for sharing!

Hi Dony et al. I greatly appreciate your attention to detail and your video has guided me through the reassembly of a saw I took apart ten years ago! I ran into something surprising that your saw didn't have. The carburetor adjustment screws are actually unslotted: not straight, not Phillips, not star, not hex, they are externally knurled, and the top of the head is cone shaped. I have never seen a screw like this (nor am I someone who routinely repairs small motors or carburetors) and I wonder if there is a special tool to turn them. I thought maybe the adjustment is supposed to be made before putting the filter on, but it's too hard to reach in there. I hope there is a tool.

@jameslee2105

the 136 is actually a poulan product with husky badging . the cylinder coating on these very inexpensive home owner saws is not very robust and will cause piston and ring scoring and seizing . watch that the main jet is not turned too far in as lean running will cause the engine to self destruct before you have any idea what has happened .

I have that exact saw and unfortunately I broke the handle several years ago. It sat for a long time on my project shelf..... Then last year I decided to repair it. I bought a new handle, replaced the plug, the air cleaner etc.....Couldn't get it to fire. Turned out it was EXACTLY the problem yours had- rotten and collapsed fuel line. I replaced it and the filter and it's now one of my favorite saws. I use it for limbing mostly and it has plenty of power for that kind of work and it's easy to use all day due to it's light weight. Wish I had seen this video before I tore mine apart- would have saved me some time!

great video; I inherited a small husq. saw from my grandfather that had sat for a couple of years. I took it to a local shop and I do trust the guys there. I took it in for a fuel line replacement and carb service. They replaced the primer bulb and fuel line but the saw failed the leak test. They informed me there was a fairly bad leak in the crank case. However, the saw will start easily and runs ok. For the life of me though I can't seem to get the carb adjusted correctly especially once the saw warms up. Would you suspect that is bc of the air leak causing the saw to run too lean?
@daveycrockett64

You will never get the saw idling steadily if there is an air leak. It's not too hard to change the oil seals and reseal the case.

I bought an ms 180 off of eBay and I went all the way through it. I replaced everything with oem parts. The sprocket bearing was frozen to the crank and the oil pump was loaded with woodbuggers. I cleaned out the oil and fuel tanks and all fuel and oil lines. I put a new AM carb on it because I could not get the oem carb to work, properly, even after I rebuilt it. The key thing to do on the 180 is the air box, air filter and carb gasket. .
