I just did the same exact thing! I took the clutch cover off before disengaging the break! What a bitch that was getting that open! Figured it out after the spring popped out twice and spent 20 minutes looking for it only to have it happen again! Finally realized I needed to put the black cover back on before trying to open it! Lol I was in a fucking lather by the time I got it back together! Funny now but then… not so much.
There's a half choke option, I think you skipped it. You rarely need to prime these either. My chain tensioner broke as well so I ground a washer down on a couple sides and bent the bottom inward a bit to keep the sliding pin in place while allowing me to still use the tensioner as intended. I've put thousands upon thousands of cuts with my 240 and I love it. It was a gift from my wife 3 years ago. I'm upgrading to a bigger Husky soon but the 240 is a decent little saw. I cut hardwood all year around, mainly Ash here in Michigan. Just like with any saw, keep your chains sharp and it'll work beautifully. I even put an 18" bar on mine. To be clear, I don't fall a lot of trees. I mainly cut up deadfalls. I sell firewood and clean up properties as a side business. Another thing that makes a huge difference is premixed fuel. Husqvarna engines are the best chainsaw powerplants you can buy. They'll run just fine on fuel you mix, but premixed fuel is like feeding premium gas to a high compression engine. Just my 2 cents. I really appreciate the time you put into making this video. The 240 saw has been discontinued but if you come across one at a sale, pick it up! BTW, I'm not knocking Stihl, if there was a saw with a Stihl body and Husky engine, I'd be in heaven.
I bought a 235 secondhand for $90 and it runs good except it has insane compression which makes it hard to hold down to start . It has way more compression than my other saws . On my wood trailer I have a small vice which I clamp the chain bar in to sharpen a chain so I clamp the saw in that and start it while clamped in the vice . No bending no back strain , works good . I mainly use it for limbing .
My 240: 1) check tank venting, if it's warm and won't start back up think vapor lock . 2) If stopped or stalled, pull out the choke lever then push it back in, that will rest it back to hot run .
1 thing you've not covered is fuel lines on these usually need replaced. These aren't bad saws but essentially they're rebadged Poulans. For the last 30+ years the small Poulans were very poor. Not to say you might find a good 1 but the odds were against it.
Yup the saw sucks Start a run it for a little bit Then I put it down. Try and start it backup. And it shuts off after like thirty seconds I gotta bring it into the shop or something.lo
I'm pissed off because I just paid $329 for the stupid thing today, I followed the instructions to the letter and it won't rum more than a couple of minutes before stalling out
Wow if you paid that much for it. Must be new...maybe take it back for return. A new saw should start up on first couple of pulls, unless that saw had fuel sitting in carb for extended period of time, then maybe need the carb cleaned.
My Husqvarna 240 is junk didn’t make the cut it lasted 6 weeks I’ve heard so many good things .. about these saws ..I should of bought another Poulan or the craftsman’s version of the of the poulan Very disappointed.. I wouldn’t buy another Husqvarna Or even if it was offered free I’ll keep my Stihls and poulan saws
Mine too doesn't ruin worth a shat since day one. Tilt it down Boggs out.tried everything.won't idle.gets hot won't start.Got pissed put it under the tire of backhoe drove away sooooo satisfying.bought a still
