A good muffler mod is just how you did that let some heat out maybe a little louder but you won’t need a bottle of alive to get rid of the headache from it trying to shatter glass with how loud it is. You also are allowing the true function of a two stroke by not letting the exhaust just shoot straight out the pipe. Great job and enjoy watching your videos very good information no bs and entertaining!

I am always surprised at how much improvement is gained from a simple muffler mod. I recently modded a 351 muffler and not only did it increase power but it noticeably increased the throttle response. I agree the stock hole puts lots of heat up at the saw plastics, all the melted top covers and brake handles can attest!

I agree with you about the loudness. I don’t understand or like the bark box. It is just stupid loud. I also prefer my Husqvarna’s so I guess that is mostly a nonissue but I will never put one on my one Stihl which is a 500i. I have a 572XP though so your muffler mod interests me as that saw needs help.

I know most modern saws are constipated to help meet emissions but dang! For the time and effort, definitely a worthwhile mod for the 5 series huskies! And thanks for the extra internal baffle/shield tip👍🏻

LPX is pro chisel chain and those rakers make it an exceptional chain for plunge cutting. Also makes it a very smooth cutting chain when bucking.
@modarkthemauler
@modarkthemauler Год назад
Agreed, as a work chain, being able to smoothly plunge cut is so nice.
@FarmBossSaws
@FarmBossSaws Год назад
Hmm, I've never heard that about LPX, I use LGX most of the time because I heard that it is faster without the anti-kickback raker.
@Moosehound597

Its not pro chain buddy, hence the safety raker.
@Houseworksaws
@Houseworksaws Год назад
@@Moosehound597 It’s not seen as a safety raker.. it’s for loggers who do lots of plunge cutting.. A professional technique.. when you plunge cut you use the tip so that raker is designed to make it less jumpy when starting to plunge. Obviously you don’t actually know how a chainsaw chain works and the dynamics of it. Whether you have a single or double raker you adjust the raker height the same correct? Yes.. Notice it’s a Chisel chain right? Yes. Look it up and understand what you’re talking about just spewing $hit out of your mouth.

@@Moosehound597 No, it is a Pro Chain. It's just a little different and the smoothness with bore cutting makes a Big difference !

Excellent Vid 👍👍 I'll be picking up a 565 in a week. I had a 572 and really liked it but did not like how it would fall down when dogged it. I never thought much about the 565 as I thought it was a 266 compared to a 272 kinda deal. Then I learned it had the same jug and piston as the 572 but a lower/smoother powerband. I don't know what species the log is you were bucking , it looks like a hardwood to me. And it looks like you had chisel filed that full comp chain. Much better proformance than what I expect my 572 would have done. My only regret is the 565 is not a heated handle saw where as my 572 was. Awesome deal on the full wrap , falling dogs and big clutch cover !!! I need to get the Western kit for the 565. Wish I could get one for my Jonsered 2172 WH. I Really like Warm Hands AND the carb heat to stop carb icing !!!

Hey Glen, your all over the place eh? I picked up a 565 this spring and am loving it. I've got a muffler modded 372 that I think has a little more snap and pull, but for actually getting work done that 565 will keep up with just about anything. I took down a couple big dead alder snags near my house, probably 30" diameter... handled them nicely.

How important is the pipe ? In the past I've always just drilled holes in the muffler. As I had no way of brazing or welding . Not looking for a battle, just wondering if the pipe has other benifit's than expelling the exuast farther away from the saw . Thank you. Now that I have and am cutting with my 565. I rewatched this vid as it is the best one I've seen for the 565 .
@novicelumberjack

The pipe shouldn't be that important. It just looks better and can better direct the heat out from the saw.

I was using a scrap pipe and it wasn't long enough to also incorporate the little shield piece. So I welded on another little scrap piece.

G’day Doc, have you done anything with your 55’s?
@Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws
@@AndyH-13 One is being left alone for now and the other needs a piston and cylinder. I ordered a Hyway cylinder kit but the casting is pitted really bad, the replacement cylinder kit showed up today and the intake hole is off center causing the intake wall 2 be paper thin on one side with the intake lip missing a big part. Looking down the intake, it looks like a C instead of an O. Soon as I get a good closed port cylinder I'm gonna shoot 4 copying Boedy's build best I can. Have you looked at your cylinder 2 see if it's a unicorn closed port?👍🆙AH
@AndyH-13
@AndyH-13 Год назад
@@Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws I haven’t had a look at the cylinder. I have been working on replacing the radiator on the Mrs Nissan Juke, it’s front wheel drive and a lot of work to get the radiator out. Have to remove most of the front of the car. Anyway it’s out now, just have to put it back together.
@AndyH-13
@AndyH-13 Год назад
Your not having much luck with the replacement cylinder. It will work out.
@Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws
@@AndyH-13 they're sending me another replacement as we speak, they supposedly checked this one 2 make sure it was acceptable quality, we,ll see. I found a Husqvarna 61 black top at the scrap yard the other day also. Everything works, it has some miles on it, but the owner kept it in good shape. Has a decent 20" Oregon bar/good chain, only part broken was the chain break handle, it was broken off when thrown in the scrap pile, only missing piece was the chain tensioner screw. I'm going 2 do a complete rebuild in time, going 2 think about whether 2 keep it a 61 or get a different cylinder and piston.
