Here, I sit in my Lazyboy, recovering from a successful cancer surgery. Wishing instead I was riding my KTM. At only 53, I have a whole new perspective about my life. As soon as I am fully recovered, I am going to purchase myself a new 2024 Husqvarna FE501S when they hit the showroom floor. Screw the Red Corvette! ✊️😁
I've seen a few of your videos. You have skills... I'm 57, at least for another week. I took up dual sport riding a couple of years ago and love it... However, I don't have many people to ride with, so I like the idea of just getting out there, of course, being smart about it.
Your sister is absolutely correct. Your words of wisdom are words to live by every day. There is no tomorrow...only today. I love my 501 too. Some of the best riding is what’s in your backyard...from Phelan, CA. Great video man. 👍🏻
5.30 Life's journey is not to arrive at the graveside safely, with a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy shit, what a ride.
I like that, Graeme.... You're hard core... I've been looking for people to ride Colorado's Alpine Loop in June. No luck thus far... Looks like I'll be doing it alone. What are your thoughts on a novice doing that ride alone? Thanks.
I HAD ONE OF THESE HUSKY 510 WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT IN 88 ,I RODE IT HARD FOR 11 YEARS AND IT NEVER FAILED ME ONCE GREAT BIKE..MY FRIEND CARL WHO HAD A YZ125 RODE IT AND SAID THIS BIKE INSULTS THE TRAILS ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS KEEPING A REAR TIRE ON IT..EVERY THIRD RIDE THE TIRE WAS SHOT...GREETINGS FROM THE PHILIPPINES MO
That 501 is a real tractor! Great video. I’m just about ready to pull the trigger on a 501. This video really helped me to make sure of that decision? Thank you! Subscribed.
Great ride! You hit it head on about getting out and riding. I should be picking up a 501 on Monday. I can't wait to get out and ride. The demo ride made a believer out of me.
Love your attitude! I have worked waaay too much in my life and missed out on lots of good times..and riding! It’s time for me to change that. At 52, it’s really hitting me hard how short life is.
Just put a deposit on a new 2023. Should get it in a couple of weeks. I'll be in the mountains any time I'm not working... Never ridden one, but I had a ton of fun adventures on my WR250R, so I figure this is going to be next level awesomeness! Lighter, more powerful, better suspension, and a hydraulic clutch. All sounds good to me.
@@KTMMO615 Ended up finding a slightly used 2021 with extras. Just went out for my first ride today. What a machine!!!! I can't believe how much better than the WR250R it is...
Love the video! Doing some of the single track with vertical drop off on one side is a hard no for me, my sphincter muscle clinch would make the operation of the motorcycle almost impossible.
You got it right! Always want to ride more. Just trying to fit it in work, house remodeling, yard work, firewood.... it's really hard to get away but I just go anyway. I'm not getting any younger. Great video. 👍 My 501 is stock in the motor and exhaust. Does the cooling fan come on a majority of the time? It does on mine. Talked to other 501 owners, it seems to be about 50% of them have the same problem. If it's even a problem. I don't think it's overheating.
Csdude34 Hi there! Very envious of the beautiful rides you have in UT. I also ride a FE501 and I'm curious to know what tires you run n on it? Keep the great videos coming .
Currently I’m running Dunlop AT81’s with Tubliss. They are full on dirt tires, but as long as you keep your corner speeds down they actually do pretty good on the road.
Usually run 15 in rear, and 18 up front. BUT, I recently had a tubliss failure on me! The inner tube split right at the valve stem. I normally carry a spare 21 tube but didn’t have it with me that day. Thank goodness for my Garmin Inreach. I was able to text a buddy to come get me with his truck. I still rode it several miles chewing the tire and rim up to get back to the main dirt road to meet my friend. I had the same tubliss failue a couple years ago on another bike. I’ve since gone to heavy duty tubes and run around the same psi. And, I always carry a spare tube now.
@@KTMMO615 s#%t happens when you don’t want it to. Some heavy duty zip ties carried in the bag are handy to place around tyre and rim will get you home slowly. Stops the tyre coming off the rim.
Great video! I’ve been looking to pick up the 501s so I can take it on short rides. I’ve been reading some feedback that the 501 Husky has alot of vibration? What’s your thoughts?
No more vibration than any other big single I’ve owned. I’ve ridden it on 50+ mile pavement stretches many times and never thought it was very bad. When I finally wear this one out, I will bring a new one home. Love the 501!
I listened to your words a little after the 2:30 minute. I relate so much to your every word. There are no words to describe how right you are!!What state is this in the USA COLORADO? Almost 3 years since the video, are you still with the 501? your riding is great!!
This is Northern Utah, right up near the Idaho border. Beautiful country! Yes, still have my beloved 501. Just waiting for the snow to melt up in the mountains. We had record setting snowfall this winter so it could be a while before I can get back up there.
Sweet ride man, the bike and it operation. Is the Husky as similar to the KTM 500 exc as people say? I've heard the only significant difference is in the suspension... a linkage in the rear and different spring rates up front.
Yes, the KTM has the PDS rear shock. The HUSKY is linkage. Also the rear subframes are slightly different. Others than that, they’re the same bike. Very good do it all machines.
Fantastic bike, ...... if you have a lot of road use, look into rubber blocks ( cush drive ) ..... supposedly protecting shaft from premature wearing.... Did you came across Sasquatch yet ?
great video! If you want to ride even more, buy a timbersled kit so you can ride all year :D Thats what im gonna do, but I live in the northern part of sweden where the summer is just too short..
Hey, update on mine. I turned the idle up and got used to slipping the clutch more than I think I should. Plus I feel like maybe the throttle plate broke in a little so it's not so abrupt when I Crack the throttle. Anyways thanks for the tip.
Hello, It is exactly the same trip I did for severals months with my 701. But this week I sold it and going to replace by a… 501. Nearly 95 lbs lighter 😅. Yes it is a great bike. You have a serious docking system for your gps. Do you have the référence of it please ? Éric from France.
I’ve got Flexxbars on it and rigged up a homemade mount to hold the Trailtech gps. I’ve owned three 690’s, and sold three 690’s. 501 has stayed put. Love it!
It’s not to bad. I run Flexxbars and they help reduce vibes. It’s definitely not meant to run down the freeway, but for shorter jumps between dirt it’s completely tolerable.
My 2021 had so much engine vibration I sold it. Heard euros getting massive run out out of the crank to fix it. I had antivibe everything and it was intolerable on the road with balanced slicks.
chris sowder This is National Forest land. Yes, there are roads, two track, and single track throughout the whole are. Basically from where I live you can ride clear to Canada off road. Search "Tour of Idaho" for vids. Utah and Idaho have some amazing mountains to ride! Cheers!
I have watched several reviews of The FE 501 Husky, and Everyone Loves how the Bike Performs on The Trail!,but Most People complain about how the Bike is on The Pavement!,The Bike has a Lot of Vibration Problems on Asphalt!,and the rear fender and taillight assembly is real weak and Cheap!
Would this bike be too high maintenance for city/mixed highway delivery? I wanted to do organ transport for a local hospital but I may just look at a drz400 for street riding
Tomorrow is not a date. June 1st is a date. You have to be precise to follow through. That's why New Years resolutions fail, "I want to lose weight". How about I'm going to lose 10lbs by March _____. Much more likely to get it done. End rant.
