I run a 350. Great reliable Saw.18 inch Bar. Good around the farm. Blimen reliable. A Husky with a 3 in front of it is always good. 266 best Saw they ever made. 272 and 372 unbeatable. Im old enough now to never needa 5 anything model.
I use the 550 most days when there isn't big timber, it's definitely a ripper and the power to weight ratio is insane! Awesome to see you run it buckin
I have the 550xp mark 2, ported by red beard pulling a 20” full house 3/8. Absolute beast when you port the 550’s. It come out of the truck more then the ported 372xpw does now days.
Oh, Buckin'! Bless you! Your love for others sure runs deep! You know, homeless children can often be traced back to fatherlessness. It's more than just the lack of a dad in the house. There are plenty of children who are virtual fatherless, by lack of involvement and connection. And not to minimize moms, for it's so important for children to see their father showing true love to his wife, because she is so very important too. You are such a wonderful example of love in action! So many men just need to learn unconditional love (not to be confused with permissiveness. . .) I don't want anyone to think that I've "arrived", but I want to keep growing along my life's journey. I know this, and still have plenty of room for improvement. Keep on sowing the seeds of love and kindness!
Your channel is important for people to see the educational benefits from proper technique to sharpening and everything else you cover is great. I had to learn how to use a power saw on my own around 14 years old (I'm 41) I wish we had you tube back then so much time wasted using short bars and improperly sharpened chains. I bought my first saw Ms 260 loved it two years ago moved up to 461 with a 24" bar absolutely love that saw. Now I am perfecting my Humboldt notches and thanks to great content that you provide along with some other creators it helps build confidence to try new techniques. Keep it up BBR and thank you from nova scotia
Glad to see the little get some spot light. As others have said I also run a 550xp mk2 with a 20" bar and a full chisel chain. Cuts good stock, for me anyway, definitely keeps up with my 61 unless it's real big. Keep up the good content, people need to know how to work a saw the right (smart) way. Your compassion is much needed, especially these days.
Gosh that 850 hauls the mail buddy, just a beautiful saw, still holding out for a nice 82cc mac, I think I narrowed down my decision to an sp81 or 850, but an 800 isn't out of the question, heck any mac is not out of the question, as always excellent video buckin" I have learned so much on sharpening, tuning, and falling watching your videos!!
Hi Buckin. Just bought a brand new 565 professional It’s a downrated 572xp. Ran it last week with a stock 24” bar & chain. It works great for me just Buckin up firewood 👍🇬🇧🤝🇨🇦
I have no problem understanding your tip on sharpening. I make knives for hobby I sharpen my folders professionally and I strop everything I use after use. I don’t know chainsaws but I’ll soon understand filing them thanks to you. Thanks
I found your channel maybe three days ago and love it! Reminds me of being younger and cutting firewood with my dad. He since passed this past January and I was beyond emotional picking up my saw and your videos and passion has helped bring back the good memories!
Fun video. You can get a 24inch B&C for those little small mount 50cc saws, especially in pine. First versions were a bit dicey, the MK'2's pretty solid. That was a MK2. Get Tinman to build u a hot rod "hand grenade" MK1 for kicks and a bucket saw. :)
Ciao mitico Billy. Saluti from Italy
Hi Buckin, love your videos and the work that you do. If you haven’t done a video on ropes (different types, sizes and what they best suited for, I mean static, non static etc.) could you do a video on that? Would really appreciate your opinion and information on that subject.
Ooooohhhh yeah buddy. Rippin little saw. Thank you to all who donate to these charities and help Buckin on his journey to help and make this world a better place. Love 🌲❤️🌲👊🪓 ya brother.
I won this saw through a chainsaw raffle at Paul Smith's College. I work for a tree service now, and I must say this and the 572XP are my 2 favorite ground saws.
When it was time to get a new saw to replace my 365 special (became too heavy for me to lug/use for more than an hour) I called my tree crew over for a day as I needed to do some large chipping. The owner was nice enough to let me test drive 3 fairly new husky saws I was considering. The 550xp, the 555, and the 562xp. I told him not to pre warm any saws that day as I wanted to cold start and run all 3. At first look and feel I was sold on the 550xp. It was light as a feather. But after starting (or trying to start) and running them all, I fell in love with the 562xp. I also liked the 555 but it lacked the grunt and zing of the XPs. He had two of the 550xps and one didn't start and the other was very hard to start, and just felt cheap in my hands. Things were loose like it rattled apart. I ended up buying the 562xp w/24“ bar and 0.058" chain (less stretch) and love it. Starts easily and runs strong in 20" hardwood.
Pretty new to good saws. Bought 550XP Mark II last summer. Thing is way nastier than I expected. Just put on a set of West Coast Saw 3 pt. dogs. Haven't really tried them out yet, but man it makes her look mean! That Mark II cold start idle is really something special. It's like my favorite thing! Love the channel Billy and much love from Southeast Ohio USA!
Buckin a man of your skills and knowledge and compassion could go a long way at teaching any interested underprivileged youth a skill set that could set them up for a successful productive life keep on doing what you do !
Short and sweet it’s bad with drugs in my little town and of course alcohol I was just telling my friend we need to sit down and talk with our counsel and deal with our youth and programs to keep them off alcohol and drugs but it’s hard I had a rough up bringing and it’s normal when it shouldn’t be so I give everything I can but there ain’t enough people passing being kind but the people that I do know I can tell I have an impact on them with all I been through and still positive and keep passing on kindness long message but you definitely inspire me to do more so thank you
Good afternoon from upstate New York Buckin I've been using 550 for a few years now I have a knotted muffler and it is a phenomenal saw I often use it doing crane work I use an 1164 file and it seems to work splendidly always educational bucking thanks again for great videos!!
Born, raised and live in Oneida County! Love my Husqvarna chainsaws. My older 340 and 350 are tired but my newer 120i and 455 Rancher, I purchased last year are beautiful. I also have a nice Echo CS-590 Timberwolf. Great Firewood and down blow saws. I want to get another smaller Husqvarna gas powered saw, I miss the 340.
Hello Richard. That455 Rancher is a nice little design. I have the same thing but it's the 2255 Jonesered. My advice is take off the carb and remove the limiter screws and do a muffler mod. Sounds crazy but mine Pulls a 28in bar Great. Stock it would pull a 24in bar but they respond Well to muffler mods you can't properly tune them unless you remove those caps.
@@joshuajohnson4396 personally, I run my saws stock. I'm not much of a mechanic or gear head, respectfully. The 20 inch .050 gauge bar and 3/8'' pinch chain is plenty for what I need. We have a lot of balsam fir, some hemlock, a bit of cherry. The cherry and hemlock are a little girthy but the majority of my saw tasks involve balsam fir. The fir is only a foot in diameter at best, that's old growth for these parts. The balsam tend to die and remain free standing. I take them down a little at a time or somethings a good rain storm uproots them or they parish in a snow storm. I'm not a profession but I love the hobby and swinging an axe. Its very relaxing and calming.
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith thank you sir. I've been here a long time. I sent you an old McCulloch chainsaw maintence kit, about a year or so after you started the channel. My first video I watched of yours was something like "Bringing Home the Bacon With the Macs".
I love the "bucking with a short bar" in the title. It looks like a 20" bar. That's the maximum recommended bar length on that saw. Surely it would pull longer bars albeit not buried but in that size wood. It's the combination of .325 setups not offering longer than 20" bars normally in addition to most of this size saws does not oil well enough to push it any longer than 20". Personally I'd love one of these little saws with a lightweight 24" bar or even 28" .325 for a reach aspect. Keep the saw in a comfortable position while blocking and limbing smaller wood. Not for burying the bar. I'm out East, so while the "stand up and buck" holds true everywhere and I'm a believer, the most common time we have to reach is actually when limbing our shorter but far "stemier" trees that crown out far more than your straighter taller trees. These smaller saws really start to show their worth. Love these saw 'reviews' as you really aren't showing bias and show how you use them not trying to sell them.
Im still not coping after losing my sweetheart Frank from cancer as it been 6 months now and I still wish he walk though the door and Frank learn so much from watching Buckin and I miss going out collecting wood this Winter. From Frank wife Nanette
A buddy just gave me a 550xp that had a tree fall on it. I'm gonna take it to the shop as I'm just not skilled enough to know what is there and what could be missing. Thanks for letting me see and know that I made a good choice in taking it as a project saw.
@@jackmannjack1251 not sure where you got that misinformation from but they are far from home owner and certainly don’t fall apart. Absolutely amazing saws that just rip.
im running the stihl 261 cm and its in the same category as that 550. Excellent saw with a 20 inch bar and for guys like me where the biggest tree you cut is maybe a 30" spruce, it works like a charm...as long as you dont mind coming to the dark side and running a stihl 😜
That’s a nice little saw. A 28 inch bar fits me the best I can’t be bent over that long. I been wanting to try one the 572. I love my 372. Have a good night.
I have a 572XP but I run a 24” bar on it and a 28” on my 395XP and new 592XP. The 572XP is a good saw once you break it in but nothing that will blow your mind. I am sure it is a little better than a 372XP but I have never run one. Honestly I should have bought the Stihl MS462 but I love Husqvarna’s.
i just bought a 545 mark 2 i love it. i also have a 555. the 555 i was the first one to buy from my dealer when they came out. its been a good saw. i would like to get the 565 and a 585
Buckin. From a former homeless youth. The best thing for these young ppl is to know someone cares about them and that they are actually worth a hoot. You are a powerfully influential man. Go n talk to these kids. Hug them like the Indian hugs you. ❤️🌍🌏🌎❤️
I used those doing fire safe in northern Saskatchewan and i could drop and buck an immature balsam fir in 45 seconds. It was so much fun that i couldn't wait to do more! With a 20 inch bar, i felt a bit better than the 18 inch. I felt that bran new out of the box i had to adjust the tension a few times but after that it ran solid for a month with out doing anything but keeping it clean. Every once and awhile working in heavy snow id run some true fuel in it to set the microchip chip probably. My co worker who did not do this had a few extra problems.
You must have been watching over me today. I struggled with one saw, put it back in the truck and grabbed another one, 2nd cut I hit dirt, I only had 1 cut left and I was leaning on the saw so hard, finally I just stopped and filed it lol
You can get felling dogs for a 562XP and modify the inner dog to fit the 550. About 5 minutes with a grinder and a drill. I love my 550, but I prefer my 572 for anything larger that I'd need to be careful with falling.
What's up billy you been watching the channel for a while thanks for shareing the knowledge helped me with a lot of difficult trees... I have a ms 251 it's a 45cc powersaw what it the biggest bar I can run in that
I picked up a new 550xp last week great saw so far…I needed a partner for my 460 stihl it’s so much lighter for limbing and smaller work. Happy autumn solstice tomorrow Buckin 🍁
I think 550 is not so much designed for firewoods but professional loggers for making logs and fiberwood where limbing is the phase taking most of the time. In Scandinavia 13" or 15" is the bar lengt for this since longer bar are clumsy in limbing.
I used to run a 550xp and 560xp for coppice work but I switched to Echo saws years ago and I really can’t see me going back, I just don’t like computer controlled carbs and being totally reliant on taking a saw to a dealership if/when there’s an issue
Billy, Saw your 550 vid. Seeing Ilit run with a shorter chain brought something to mind. Can a chain be to long for a particular motor? Is there a range of chain saw lengths based on the model of engine? Thanks, Chip
Dyno Joe really rates the 550s he just did a build on one and recons out of the box they are pretty good . Wonder how they would go pulling a long bar on 3/8
@@Bc-mj9hg the 550 mark 2 is more powerful than the 261 the my old 550 mark 1 feels faster than my 261 but not by much but the mark 2 eats both of them
God bless you Billy, keep spreading the word. Like me, the streets are my church. I'm in el paso tx and you've probably already heard of the influx of immigrants. 1st of all, there not as many or ill as the media or the politicians claim, we're not being taken over. These Humans However they too need help and is why I say the streets are my church. I don't need 4 walls, the people out on the streets are my 4 walls. God bless you billy.
Such wonderful thoughts, then perform and actively help the weak people .. that and doing something is super important, Give everything hehe :-)… regards from a simple fireman from Norway....hihi
Careful with the autotune. Don't let it idle. It'll mess with the computer. If you have to put it down, shut it off. If it idles too long the computer re-learns and thinks that is the normal rpm. It messes with the throttle response, then you have to have the computer re-flashed. I work for a Redmax/Husqvarna/Jonsered (before Husky dropped them) distributor, and we see this happen a bit.
