Tha is so much Mr Rivera. Hope you get to subscribe and check out other videos that may assist you. Always a treat to hear from someone who appreciates the work. Dean
You put a lot of effort into the videography, I sure like the dual camera angles for critical moments. Voice over makes the message delivery smoother. I like your decision to replace everything for the sake of viewers, even though many original parts were OK. Don't forget to put the link to where you got the parts, as described in the video. Well done!
Thanks for the comments. You sir, are very astute. You picked up on all my efforts. This was my toughest video yet cause I had almost 3 hours to edit down between the multiple cameras. But, I started this channel out of my frustration related to other how-to videos being too dark or shaky to allow me to figure out what the videographer was doing. Thank you as well for the voice-over comments. Its actually easier and more accurate to do the descriptions 'after' the video is shot than 'during' because of the pressure to get the narration correct each time. Narration after-the-fact gives me plenty of time to include items of interest that otherwise I might have forgotten live. Thank you lastly because of your ability to pick up on the fact that the detailed kit installation was not only for the owner's benefit but also for my viewership. BTW: I added the link...it just didn't have time to post by the time you watched. Thanks again.
I can not find links to the rebuild kit, or “spark tester” in the follow-up, comments. Are they there, or am I just missing them? A great video, by the way.
This a great video! • Very easy to follow and understand. • Anyone should be able to follow these instructions, even if you only have limited mechanical ability!
Excellent Video! I own 2 128LD's. I did what most people do when the 128LD's quit running, except I skipped the step where you throw away the old one. So now I'll do this procedure on the old one (minus the coil replacement 'cause the old coil is OK) then I will be able to leave the string trimmer attachment on one, and the blower attachment on the other. Very high quality video, with time stamps. There must have been a lot of thought and preparation in this.
This video is exactly what I needed. Mine stopped after replacing trimmer line. I have good spark and a new plug. New Carb and fuel lines. still not starting, but I may have an idea now... And you took it apart much better than I have as I fumbled through it. Thanks for showing me the easier way!!
I have this model I bought back in 2014. it turned out to be a very solid machine. It's had a carb and fuel line replacement and still going strong. It still starts easily. Though I have been hearing more complaints about the newer ones. Dunno if they are recent qc issues or user error. Just goes to show you that everybody's mileage may vary. Your best trimmer ever may be a piece of junk to someone else.
You ‘could’ but if you watch my other Husqvarna chainsaw videos, I typically use something like Gunk engine degreaser and Dawn with a toothbrush for the tight spots and hot water with the Dawn. Let the parts soak overnight if you can.
Adzy, you flatter me, but thank you so much. I love all parts of videoing, but comments, I love the very best. I hope your Honda lasts a good long time and good luck with all your projects.
@@PilotViewProductions Not at all, credit where credit’s due. Really enjoy the content. Honda is a solid machine. Although I neglected to grease the head bearing for ages and needed to buy a new one which was pricey. That was a lesson I won’t repeat.
Very, very well done video, sir. I appreciated the minute details like taking time to show how to disconnect the throttle cable ‘z’ clip. Kudos and keep up the good work!
Thank You 🙏 for sharing the video, a great informative video and the kit is really cost effective for all of that. I have the same model that would not start this morning. My air filter was clean, fresh gas, had to go to town and find the spark plug cross, could not find the Champion plug it called for and I went on and purchased a fuel filter. I had to wait after I got back to farm it was already over 100 heat index, too hot to be outside.
08:00 You can wrap some tape around the plug head to the wire which smooths the contour and the plug won't catch as much. Makes pulling it out much easier. First tie some twine to the plug and tape over that. When you pull out the wire, the twine can be used to pull the new wire through the pathway and into position very easily.
Thank you, a great video. One thing you didnt mention and after a thorough search of the web I can find no direct answer for is; which fuel line goes to the primer bulb? I got a used one and after switching the lines it now runs. Someone, i believe, reversed them? I have the short (return line) running to the primer bulb. Just want to make 100% sure this is correct.
I have every confidence you can get it done. Thank you so much for viewing and taking the time to leave a comment. Much success and let me know if I can help.
Excellent video. (Certainly can apply this to other brands of trimmers). Thank you for making & posting this video. (That machine is very nice, with lots of power. Amazing that you purchased all those new parts at such low cost).
Thanks for viewing Tony and taking the time to comment. Got lots of power lawn equipment videos for you so I hope you’ll consider subscribing. Much success in your projects. Dean
Thank you Andrew for watching and for the comments. I wish you much success on the 224L. Hope I can talk you into subscribing for more of my videos. Dean
@@PilotViewProductions Done, thank you! I also just changed the spark plug on my 224L and it starts and runs like new :-) Easy fix. Love the Honda engine
I have a husqvarna 326LDX, just quit. I have spark good fuel, however, a lot of oil around the muffler and inside the case. I need to check compression. will any compression gage work? most say automotive gauge, when shopping. thank for helping!
I picked up a compression gauge from Harbor Freight that was defective and returned it and got another one that was reading incorrectly. I ended up buying one that was of more quality through Amazon and it’s been great. That said, if you have oil coming out the muffler, make sure the muffler screen is not stopped up.
Are spark plug testers misnamed since you never see the plug spark? As you said, the flash we see tells us that the coil is good. Those gadgets test everything up to but not including the spark plug. I wonder how they're named in the patent...
Outstanding video and will really help for what I need to do for my Husky weedeater....I considered buying a new one, but what the heck.....something to do on a rainy day :>) After your cleanup, it looked new....any special cleaner you have found that is better for the sludge build up?.......thanks
Thanks for viewing George. I like Gunk foamy engine degreaser and an old tooth brush followed up with hot water and car wash solution. Let me know how it goes if you think of it sometime.
@@PilotViewProductions Thanks for the info!!!....will be picking up a can and giving it a go...not sure why I did not think of using such a degreaser for such purpose
Thanks Don. I appreciate the compliment. I’m sorry this kit does not include the coil anymore. No, I sure don’t have a number for a kit that does. I would have to research eBay again to find one.
My experience has been that if it was not cranking because of the broken boot wire, it would have tried to fire up when I was using the spark tester. Therefore; the broken boot wasn't the issue. Thanks for viewing.
Thank you Mr. Gutzwiller for viewing and leaving a comment. I take great pains with the filming and editing of my videos and would request the honor of your subscription. Dean
Both fuel lines are supposed to have small plastic connectors INSIDE of the fuel tank. These connectors are very important because they keep the heavy vibrations from pulling the fuel lines out of the tank.
There is one more thing you need to check is when you set the gap on the coil and tighten it down make sure rotate the part that the magnets are on to make sure the magnets are not hitting the coil as they go by. In my case they were and I had to open gap a little more so that the magnets would clear the coil. Had I not done this I'm sure it would have caused some damage when I went to start it.
Question. I have this trimmer. For some reason it burns a hole thru the filter in line with the butterfly. valve. I contacted the company. All I got was a dumb look. What do you think causes this. What is the solution?
The 'only' reason I can think of that gases hot enough to burn through the air filter would come back thru the butterfly would be a backfiring issue. At any rate, if that were happening to me, I would suspect a defective carburetor. But I am no professional weed trimmer repair person, just a shade tree goober who tries to use logic.
Bill, at the time I ordered mine, it was for a Lisle compression tester. I found this series of adapters containing a 16mm adapter that may work if you have a Lisle: www.amazon.com/Performance-Tool-W80577-Compression-Tester/dp/B00SDGVWQO/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1VDXMFTFKDXDN&keywords=compression+tester+16mm&qid=1654226627&sprefix=compression+tester+16mm%2Caps%2C55&sr=8-3 ....plus I found this entire kit that contains a 16mm adapter in addition to several others: www.amazon.com/Lichamp-Compression-Automotive-Cylinder-Pressure/dp/B088RM6JGC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1VDXMFTFKDXDN&keywords=compression+tester+16mm&qid=1654226811&sprefix=compression+tester+16mm%2Caps%2C55&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySTFUN1RCSVVCOUNZJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzQ5NTA2Mlk3OFhOWjBYOU5BQSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDU3MTUzMlM4VUNBRzQxNEJTSyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Awesome video and beautiful yard, but I would have just bought a new trimmer, rather than investing that type of time. I would have just replaced or cleaned the carb up. A good project for a retired man!
Hey man. I'm getting fuel in my primer bulb but when I remove the spark plug, it's not wet. I put a new carburetor on it and it's still not showing the plug getting fuel.
I assume it’s not running. Check your spark. Place a small squirt of gas inside carb with the filter removed and try to crank. Make sure the air filter is not clogged.
@@PilotViewProductions , yeah I did that too. I ended up taking the plug out and I put my finger on the plug hole, and the compression would not blow my finger off. I ended up taking the whole head apart and the piston ring is toast. Ordered a new one and it should take care of the fuel problem. I can tell you that a echo is much easier to replace the ring!
It costs a little more to have a pre-spooled line, but when you're in the middle of a trimming job ru-vid.comUgkx429xwEjNPnwzQohFrURRyKF51YfOD_Du , it is so nice to just pop out the old one and pop in a new one. Love Black & Decker tools. Especially the 20-volt battery operated ones. And, as usual, it came on time. Thanks Amazon!
Help! What is causing or problem that my pull cable pull too easily, resulting that I can not start the engine? New string & puller. Pulling it a lot & quickly will catch and turn the engine (piston) causing the trimmer to run.
Husqvarna and Stihl make good products. Make sure you pour out the gas mixture and run the engine dry before storing for the season. This applies to any brand.
....your professional speaking and video skills are a HUGE improvement over some of the other less professional videos....the others are hard to sit through because of the others poor speaking and video skills which made me want to quit watching them.....thank you....
@@PilotViewProductions ....I have 3 Husqvarna 128LS (long shaft models) that I am working on right now. I am updating carburetors, changing fuel lines, general maintenance ....mostly I have to replace the fuel lines which have become brittle and cracked, but as cheap as the carburetors are from alternate sources I am replacing them if necessary.....
@@laurelshelhamer8958 you don’t have to do a search at all. On this video just look in the description section if you’re viewing it on a computer and I have the link there. All you have to do is click on that link and I will take you to eBay to the kit that I mentioned.
I bought one of these from Lowes and brought it home and put some gas in it and it started right up and only lasted around 30 seconds the head stopped spinning so right back to the store it went. Junk
Since this has a 2 stroke motor so you must mix gas with 2T oil in 50:1 ratio. The 2T (2 stroke) oil is required to lubricate the moving parts otherwise it will "only lasted around 30 seconds".
After market kits are a gamble, you got a small chance that it's a good one😮. Just get yourself a new carburetor, name brand if possible, clean everything ans go like hell.😮😅😊.
