There are many native American languages. Some of them are quite close to the Altaic languages, but others are very different. And yes Chinese is very different when compared to japanese, mongolian, and korean. It's part of the Tibeto-Burman language family whereas the others are separate language groups.

Is it weird that I now throat whistle in the car on the highway? If I do it anywhere else I'm suspected of mental instability. My wife is a really big fan of me not throat whistling, she believes it helps alter her perception of me. I think once I've finished exterpating her memories of enjoying KPop music higher forms of human expression will begin to take hold in her mind and she'll one day share my desire to fly into Timbuktu and watch these gentleman perform live.

No. The only way you damage your throat is by singing to A=440Hz. Guys like this know well of TRUE NATURES TONES and do not use digital eras 440Hz tuning. True A as it is meant to be sung is 432Hz. If you don't believe me just try tuning to it and see for yourself. Btw, they use a similar technique to what Buddhist monks do when they chant sutras, at least in the Tibetan way. The technique probably predates Buddhism though.
